Wow Pebble, hope you don't get all that rain predicted. Looks like you've got a lot of outside digging to do.

Those look really good. Is frost over in your area now? Hope you get some good sunshine.

Pebble . . they are so green and healthy looking. What a great job you did on these. Did you plant the seeds in those cups?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Brug Nanny, no, I did not plant them in the cups to start with, I planted them in those expandable pellets, and had them in those plastic mini greenhouses, they were incredible, once they got their second set of leaves, and their roots started coming out of the pellets, I decided to transplant into larger pots, ran out of the pots I had, but I had just had a party and had these leftover cups, so I decided to use them, I had to burn little holes in them for drainage... I had been worried about even trying them from seed, Arlene really had to talk me into it, or shall I say, build up my confidence to try it, (I was reluctant to accept seeds from Arlene that someone else would have better luck with) But she coaxed me, and I had to get over my defeatest attitude and just took the plunge. As I was peeling the seeds, I kept thinkg, why am I am even going to all this trouble, they arent going to germinate for me, because I had heard that it is best if you have them on a heating mat, which I didnt have, under lights, which I didnt have. But I figured I would throw caution to the wind and do it, what do I have to loose (other than the precious seeds?) And here you have the results.....
Last year, I was invited to participate in a brug program from a hybridizer in California, once the seeds came and I when I saw them, I got cold feet and decided I couldnt be trusted with that responsibility, so sent them to Eric. I dont know if he ever planted them though.

Pebble . . You did such a great job and I am so happy for you. Arlene was so sweet to send me seeds also. I was also a little hesitant but I planted them and some cam up and some did not. I do not know what the difference was but my seedlings are not in gallon size pots and I am thrilled. Arlene also just sent me some other seeds a couple of weeks ago and some of them are popping thru. I have these out in the sunshine as it has been in the 80's here during the days. Nature is probably the best way to plant them when it is warm. Gloria also sent me seeds in January and I have moved some of them up to 5 gal pots. They are really big. Like I said, yours will grow before your eyes. I am so happy for you because I know what that feeling of success at raising those little babies is like.
Also, wanted to say the seeds that I planted in January that did not come up I placed the seedling tray in the yard under a tray where it gets about 1/2 day of sun and guess what . . . some of them are popping their little heads. I am so glad that I did not throw them away.

BrugNannay, thanks for the words of encouragement, I certainly surprised myself. In fact, I could honesty say that I am astounded with my success. I have most of my seedlings in my spare bedroom under the lights, and I go in there and sit on the bed, and just look at them, akin to a mother going into the baby's room to watch her baby sleeping, and marveling at the miracle before her eyes....(funny isnt it?) I must be getting a little looney.
I am going to go to wal-mart today and buy some bigger pots to put these in, as I wont be able to plant them outside anytime soon, and at the rate that they are growing they need to be moved up.
I think that we probably got the same seeds from Arlene.

Pebble, you did a great job with your brug seeds. I still only have one seedling and keep watching for more, but it's been two months. Is it time to throw them away and start more?

Hamilton, Canada

Joan,

Don't toss them. I had a 6 pk of seedlings that didn't do anything for ages. Now after 2 months they are starting to pop up. These were seeds that Poppysue sent me labelled just as "Pink". I don't know who made this cross, but they were some spare ones she sent to me. (((Poppysue's))) very kind.
