Can anyone tell me....
hi winter!! due to new very strict regulations, you can't send plants or seeds legally to the US without a phyto certificate anymore.
We can send to you, but I've sent a few things to Finland and Ireland, and it takes a long time. Most plants just don't make it. Seeds on the other hand are easy to get to most places.
SASE means a self addressed stamped envelope. That would be hard for you, cause you'd need US stamps. A trade however would work, and most people are willing to work something out to share.
(welcome to Daves)
Wintermoor - welcome to DG! Any plants coming to the US from other countries must have the proper phytosanitary certificates. It could be expensive to just send a couple plants. Anything that doesn't have the proper paperwork could be seized at the ports of entry and destroyed. It's not really worth the risk anymore. It's too bad for us. You could probably trade with certain European countries that don't have such restrictions. There's an International trade forum here at Dave's too if you'd like to meet other members from different countries and perhaps set up trades.
Wintermoor, you might consider trading seeds to someone here for a supply of USA stamps, so you would have them on hand for SASE items. Then when someone offers something you want for SASE, you send them stamps for whatever the rate is from here to there, on a proper envelope (padded, etc) that has been addressed to you. They package up the seeds in your envelope and send it back to you. (Is that clear? I seem to be rambling.) I have done that with Canadian traders before, so I had seeds and they had postage for future trades. Postal stations should be able to tell you the postage your trader will need, or the trader might be better able to judge because they know what they are sending.
Welcome to DG Wintermoor and thank you for the lovely rose. :)
