The Solid Gold flowers have finally opened. This plant is a last years cutting that I received from Arlene. My greenhouse smells sooooo good.It has a great scent and beautiful flowers. This has certainly brought a touch of springtime which I really needed badly. :)

Snowhermit,

Nice going sis, wonderful flowers. Now someone needs to send her POLLEN right away...

Ecuador pink pollen is on its way.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Many thanks Eric. I'll be watching for it. I took some of the SG pollen today on Q tips and put it in film canisters. Should it go right in the freezer or can you store it in the refrigerator for a time. Going to take your advice and use it on the two pinks when they open. Now I have a really dumb question: can I still pollinate the stigma on the flowers that I took the pollen from or does it need the pollen on the anthers to to be able to pollinate. Hope I said this right.
Iris, this is the mama to the plant I sent you.

Snow, congratulations....What fun for you.
Inspiring photo - something for me to look forward to.

I place mine in the freezer as it keeps longer. Since you have your pollen on q-tips you can place them in the freezer right this second.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Snow ,they look wonderful,I'm so jealous!Brugman,a question on the pollen.I have one of those vacume sealers, would it help to vacume seal the pollen or would it be damaging to it?

FSH, TX

CC- I honestly don't know. I couldn't imagine how it could be a bad thing though. Why don't you try this and find out? I would speculate that you might have to dry the pollen out for a few hourse before hand, but that it should still work.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Terry, they are so pretty. I can just hardly wait to see some activity around here, but it will be a while, so I'll just enjoy your pictures. Very nice. Hope you have good luck with the pollen Eric is sending. Have you bought your New Skin and see through bandaids yet?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Congrats Snow!! If you need New Skin or the Compeed bandaids, just say the word and they will be on their way, lol. I've got a few that I cut slits in and didn't patch. Guess what, didn't hurt them at all, they are ripening just fine.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Brugie and Cala. If I'm lucky enough to get seed pods I'll find a hobby to work on when they start growing. That way I'll have something to keep me busy so I won't be so tempted to go out and pinch and peek at the pods. Who am I kidding. Better start saving some New Skin and Bandaids for me.LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

SH, better start figuring out where to plant the babies! i'm afraid a bunch of my babies are going to have to live in 7 gallon pots. solid gold looks good, looks like you have more budss. i'm probably 3-4 weeks away from my first blooms...shredded white and good old frosty.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Arlene, You'll have to post a picture of your shredded white when it blooms. More of the SG blooms opened today. I think there's eight so far and a couple more to go. It sure is pretty.
