Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

my SIL works for Lowes, they have over 500 hibiscus (tropical) the temp is going to 40* tonight. Do they need to be inside??????

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I would think so. No expert here, but once when I went to a Nursery to purchase a hibiscus, they wouldn't even let me take it to the car without wrapping it first. Said it was too cold out for them unless 55 or above.

thank you!

Anything below 55F can damage hibiscus...60 is even better..but at 40F they will wilt like being dry and some damage can occur!

thanks for confirming! he'll be there all night bringing them in, but if Lowe's wouldn't order so soon, it wouldn't happen!

tiG..Lowes always has to be first in getting plants in..the boss isn't a hort person..so he doesn't care what they need to live...so many of the indoor plants at Lowes here die from lack of water once they come in.. :-(

Same as here at Lowe's a lot of time when I saw those plants look bad and check in the pot soil "so dry" and they are so lazy to keep it up watering them and many time they has to throw it away, what is shame of "Waste" and lose their business profit $$$. Really make me sick of it and always looking for what I want but look bad.

i get HIBISCUS cannabinus "Kenaf" seed every year and if i take them to mkt i heat the truck cab first and run from the green house to the truck and have the plant covered also. the first time i took them to mkt i did not think it was that cold and in the little time from the g-h to the truck they were wilted till i got to mkt
