Hi Peter, and welcome to Dave's!! It's not nice to make peoples mouths water with your first few posts!!! LOL!
It's gorgeous, I don't know if I could find something like that here.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It's beautiful!! Why do the folks here keep showing me things that I must have?
telling self "I don't need another plant, I don't need another plant" It's not working, lol.

Peter, that hibiscus is just gorgeous. I'd love to find it here. Have browsed a lot of sites and never seen that one yet. MaVie will find it if it is out there.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Peter, that is one of my favourite Hibiscus also! I saw several of them in India, even growing wild.. see: http://davesgarden.com/showthread/71937.html

Hey! glad you all like it.

Evert- you've gone and topped us all. Most of us just see these exotics in special collections. It always makes me realise that one persons rare and choice plant can be anothers weed; or at best a common native plant.

So long as you all enjoy the pics I will keep them coming.
My digital camera is quite old now and very basic in its spec, so can't expect the quality of a Nikon coolpix etc.

tiG ... this is nothing, just wait and see as the days go on there will be more of Peter's surprises, he is noted for his good taste, his expertise and knowledge! i've notice Peter's presence when i saw the plant he posted on the Plants Database the other day. i was a bit leery then, but somehow was not surprise cause i knew right away ... that is his expertise - lovely and unique plants. my doubts were confirmed when i search the member's list, sure enough he has joined us. it was further confirmed when i heard from the man himself. i did start a thread for Peter on the Welcome Mat forum. Peter has also posted another plant in the Photo forum.

Cala... with all the experiment u do, maybe u should pick on Peter's brain. am sure he will be able to help u. Peter is good, but is very modest!

Brugie... i searched high and low, there is no seed or plant supplier out there. this is the only descent site i found ... http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week091.shtml and Ever'ts contribution to the Plant Database. my only alternative for the seed now is either Evert or Dinu. i will e-mail Dinu and see if he has it in India.

Peter...Great pic composition...and yes ya'll..I have this one too! Makes a big sprawling shrub.Needs constant pruning to keep its shape.Easy to grow.

Kyle, I have to like you in spite of all the plants you have. You at least said ya'll :)

tiG ....big ol' southern GRIN****

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Alittle history of this plant. It was first collected in Kenya and Tanzania in Africa in 1879...its habitat is being destroyed rapidly..the last collected speciman from Kenya was in 1975...they may be extinct in its natural range(habitat). Kartuz greenhouses in Vista calif has them in their catalog Or online.

Well shucks!! I just wrote Mike last night and ordered the blue hibiscus. Maybe next year. I'd be to embarrassed to write him again. That would make about 4 times that I've added to my order.

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

I got a small rooted plant of this last summer. It's about doubled in size over the winter, but it hasn't bloomed except the for tiny little bud it had on it when it arrived. The little flower was only about one and a half inches long, but I'm guessing that as the plant gets bigger so will the flowers. Does anyone know if it comes in any other colors? I can't wait to see when it does once I get it outside this summer!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

MsBatt..there is supposed to be a pink variation of this plant....But I haven't found it. the flowers never get real big on this species.Still pretty and makes great addition to the gene pool for hybridizing! :-)

I just thought it was neat! I think I saw a yellow one advertized in either Henry Field's or Gurney's, years ago, but it was one of those things where it was offered in two colors, THEIR CHOICE, so I never bought one. Got this one in trade!
