another view of GH

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This is taken from the other end. I should mention that I'm going to have to get a stronger lock for the door, someone got my Grand Mariner. This is the third brug I've missed this year, don't know how many there are that I don't miss.

How come Wally isn't doing his job? If he was, you would have NO MORE "missing" brugs! LOL I would LOVE to see him in action.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

That's a nice way to put it - they got a Grand Marnier? They must have known what they were doing - they didn't take one of the more common ones.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Cala . . . what nice greenhouse you have. Everything is so pretty and green. Sorry to hear about your plants that go missing!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I think I'll put a lock on my GH door now. When things start getting some size to them and it is closer to putting things outside, I'm always worried that someone will come along and help themselves. Out here in the country, they could have them loaded and be gone before we would know anything was happening. Was the GM in bloom? Wondering why they took it instead of HG if it wasn't blooming.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Cala,

Sorry to hear about your Grand Marnier. I am so glad I was able to visit you and get a tour of your greenhouses. It was a breathtaking site.

Thanks Waterloolily. The HG isn't tagged with it's name I guess is why they didn't take it. The first one I missed was an EP that had "Y'd", then Species went missing, but I had more of that variety and today I thought "where is GM?" and realized it had disappeared overnight. I do have a few "collectors" that come by from time to time to see what I've gotten in, but from now on, I'm not saying what I have. We had to quit bringing very many of the expensive hostas out at a time because they would disappear. Peonies are another thing they go after.
Wally comes home with us at night. He would be too lonely there alone.
We wanted to install security cameras but there wasn't enough light and there were too many "dark corners" that couldn't be covered.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cala, What a shame you can't have your plants without worrying about someone stealing them.I hope you catch the thiefs but if it happens at night it would be hard to catch them. I thought someone was stealing our strawberries one year because all the ripe ones would disappear overnight. I sat up one night in our camper to wait for the thief.Around three am I heard a noise and opened the door to find a huge black bear having a snack of ripe strawberries. Needless to say I think I scared him as much as he scared me and he ran off into the woods.

Snow, that would be scarey!! I bet you were glad he decided to leave. There are woods for a hundred acres or so behind our house and I've heard that there is a bear who lives in them, but I'm not going looking for him, lol. The worst theives we have in our garden are the raccoons. They love to steal the cantaloupes.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

What a beautiful layout you have - neat idea to put little brugs in baskets to save floor space. I'm so sorry about your loss, you do need to put an alarm on the door.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Cala, have you ever thought of keeping geese? If your garden is fenced in and the fox cant catch them, they will make an awful noise as soon, as strangers on two or four feet will appear.

This is a sad story and I want to make it short: in the last ten years, boys dissappeared out of school camps in a part of northern germany. They were found later, raped, dead.

These camps have now a herd geese walking around these camps. We watched it on television. It is an old saying, that geese are better watchers as dogs. Its just an idea.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have geese and they do make a lot of noise when someone comes in the yard. But they are so noisey at other times I can't tell when someone is here and when they are honking at the dogs ,chickens,etc....Calla ,it never occured to me that someone would have the nerve to walk right in and take plants right out of the greenhouse.the one I'm putting up will be attached to the house.I hope that make's it a little more secure.
