Blooming today.
Coccinea-Passion Flower
Gorgeous!!! Brenda
that is just stunning. made my day when I opened that picture!!
Oh so beautiful. And it's really coccinea too and not vitifolia.
That is breathtaking!
This pic was taken inside in the sun. It is really red!
Thanks, Susie, most people don't know the diff, since bloom on Vitifolia is red aso, but it has three lobed leaves, where Coccinea is not lobed, just single leaves.

Hibiscus, I didn't know that till Tim told me. I had a vitifolia and also a coccinea that I had bought and they were identical, then the coccinea seedlings came up and after a year, they still were unlobed and Tim explained it to me. I would never have known.
I love that!
Eclipse - you have me intrigued. You have such an enormous collection of eclectic tropicals. Do you over-winter them at the arboretum or do you have a gigantic greenhouse and basement at home? How do you manage to store all these plants over the winter?
Liz,if we are going to raid his house when hes off on a collecting spree, you can't just come out and ask where they are,ya gotta be sneaky
Well CC - I was kind of hoping he'd post a map for us - but then I'm from out of town - how hard can Ohio be to find??? For me it's sort of down there and to the left. LOL
Don't forget.......I live only about 40 miles from him and I DO know where he lives..........Can I hitch a ride or do you want me to pick you up at the airport?
I can't come by air Brugie - if we plan this right I'll need a truck.
Maybe we better meet someplace close by cuz I'll need my truck too. Maybe we should wait until he gets everything planted outside. The street lights would give us enough light to kind "look" around. By the way Liz, it is Iowa, not Ohio. You would never find him there.
As I said - I'm from out of town. LOL. I guess getting the state right would be a good start. OK - better find a map. It's one of the flat ones though, right? Don't want any of the big cannas falling over in the truck.
Yeah, we are relatively flat, but can find some big hills in our state too. You really should visit us some time. If it weren't for flowers, and kids, I'd be moving to a warmer climate. Gets pretty ugly around here during the winter.
y'all go on to Kyle's house, I'm going to Hibiscus' house, she's the one with this red beauty!!!!
It is a beautiful passiflora. I got one from her last fall and can't wait to get it out in the sun and growing. She does really well with her passiflora propagation, but me......I'll stick to the brugs.
I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and the photography is great as well!
I've been practicing driving Bill's big truck!! I could pick up Tig, meet up with CC somewhere along the way, swing by and get Hibiscus and Brugie could meet us at the corner. Does that sound like a plan?
(ps, I'm glad to be feeling better, 2 days without DG is terrible and I sure missed you guys)
Calla, I must have missed a thread. I didn't know you weren't feeling well. Hope it wasn't anything serious. I think we all just need a good dose of spring. One that will stay around for a while. Take care of yourself. Would hate to see you have a set back.

Sounds like a plan......
I've had a senior moment - was looking at Eclipse's Hibiscus - what can I say??? Maybe I can hit both places. I better bring brugcrazy - she can snag the good stuff I don't know about while I tear down the passifloras. Then we run for the border. When is peak rustling time in Iowa anyway?
Brugie, it was just a 24 hour bug, but I sure felt bad while I was sick. Now I'm all better.
Liz better bring BC so she will recognize the good stuff for us. I figured once I got Hibiscus in the truck and distracted, TiG could lift the red passiflora for us :-)
Speaking of Hibiscus, I wonder where she is. I haven't had any mail from her today and that is unusual. Hope she is okay.
she's probably hiding that beautiful hibiscus from the crazies!!! I wouldn't blame her.
Guess I better be thinking about mine too.....would hate to lose it. It isn't the easiest passiflora to grow. Kind of finiky during the winter months.
Just want you guys to know we had our Easter dinner tonight at sons/DIl's, ham, pot/gravy,potato salad,veggies/dip, peach and cherry pie/icecream. I am stuffed!
I am hiding my plants from spider mites, just found them, been working to get them GONE!! I think I am winning!
I think it time to start getting things outside and more space and air circulation. Spring, hurry up!

Rats! Tonight would have been the perfect time!
Yeah ,but lets wait till shes sure the spider mites are gone! And calla had to get her stength back after being sick!Plus Eclipe has to go on one of his plant hunts soon....
Timing is everything right? Gotta get this gear shifting down good too, wouldn't want to hit reverse by accident, run over something and the neighbors call the police on us. I can just see our pictures on national news: Crazy brug collectors raid local garden, can't drive and run over house!!
yeah and one woman was seen pinching pods.....
Hee hee, that's why I ran over the house, lol.
Just so you'll all recognize me when I pull up - I'll be the one with the blue wig, red clown nose wearing those hideous hawaiian capri pants and 8 inch high stilettos. Oh, and in case there are more like this I'll also have a pink feather boa. And sunglasses - I'll need those so that no one will recognize me.
And all along we thought you were the quiet, proper one amongst us!! I think I will dress as a flower so no one will notice me.
What gave me away? OK I'll leave the boa at home. Better tell us which flower you're coming as.
Well I would come as a brug, but y'all would be cutting pieces off me, so better think of something else.
