Checked under pinestraw today and the brugs are sprouting at the bases of the cut back stems. Live in Zone 8 and we had temps in 20's plus 30 mile hour winds. Although the brugs had a good 6" of pinestraw, I was worried because they were in raised beds. So far only a few haven't shown their heads but it is early.
Brugs coming up
Barbara - which ones are they?
Barb, glad to hear that your plants are starting to grow. We are getting snow here right now. Did you get my email about the other two brugs that I want? Maybe you could have them ready to bloom for me too....... (((( :-) since it might be a while before I can even get a spade in the ground. "Just Kidding".
i have 4 not coming back yet, isabella, CG, DrS and EP. EP had started coming back and was wiped out by hard frost a few weeks ago. OTOH, 2001 was put in the ground unrooted in october, froze back in december and again end of Feb, and is already coming back nicely. i do have an isabella and DrS coming back, can't figure out the difference. coming back nicely in the ground are all of eric's hybrids, isabella, jean pasco, DrS, cypress gardens, "my" frosty pink, insignis pink, insignis gold, JO/CG?, valley grow white, insignis gold. many in pots coming back, too many kinds to count. maybe lost: becca lynn, grand marnier, Dr D and James. Barbara, like you i expect these late ones to come back too.
Arlene, If your James and Dr D doesn't come back let me know. I have a James seedling that just came up about a week ago I can send you when it's a little bigger and Dr D should be big enough this summer to send you a cutting.
thanks Snow, will see how it goes.
good to hear Barbara, come on spring, right??
