This is the first time its bloomed. It looks really funny without any leaves but it went dormant late last fall ,all the leaves fell off and the bloom clusters looked like they dried up.I kinda put it aside and watered it once and a while.I was bummin thinking I would have to wait till next fall for blooms. Then yesterday I was moving some plants around and WOW,it bloomed .At least I know what color it is now.

Very pretty CC. I have a pink one blooming now and it has been for a long time. Can't wait to see the others bloom, but have to say I'm not sure I like these plants yet. Will have to hope they get full and look better during the summer. If they are always going to look like bare sticks with leaves at the top, they aren't going to be a plant that will fit in with my floral decor. :-)

Brugie,
You aren't gonna like them then..thats the way these grow..Leaves only last one season and form only at the tips...My 78 footer has leaves down only about the top 12 inches in summer with a thick woody trunk like a regular tree.Still pretty and fragrant.

Looks like I'll probably be offering them to folks in the fall. Will grow them this summer though. Do you put them in pots or in the ground?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

wait ,did you say 78 foot tall? or 7 to 8 foot tall?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL if 78 ft. tall oh my goodness it must be 7 or 8 foot tall. Am I right Eclipse? It is pretty flower.

OOOPS!!!! 7 to 8 feet tall.......**Blushing** I just noticed that error.Typing is not my forte by a long shot!!LOL

Well, Kyle you sure can grow some pretty flowers.

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

you get better growth in the ground and the root system is not that bad to pull them up before the frost. you can also keep in a large pot and put in the pot in the ground or not. just before the frost i pull up shake all the dirt off take cuttings wrap in paper and store in a closet all winter. when you are sure no more frost just plant outside again.

Thanks for the info farmgirl. Will try that if I think this is a plant I want to keep working with.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

farmgirl..I'm gonna try some in the ground this year..I have a "Mango Blush" setting buds right now..can't wait to get them outdoors again.

Brugie,

see this url ... http://davesgarden.com/showthread/211355.html ... the plumeria i started from cuttings.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG, I'll have to grow them this summer and see what they do for me. I have five colors and they are all looking healthy at this point. Have one, unknown color that is getting ready to bloom in about a month. It will probably be pink. My order from Logee's may be on the way now and I'm getting really pressed for room. May have to take some stuff to the greenhouse just to have room in the house for the new stuff. Plumeria might be the first thing to go out. Those gallon and two gallon pots take up a lot of room. I'll keep you in mind for some if that time comes. They might surprise me and I'll like them. I know I'll like them better OUTSIDE!!

MVR...your plumeria picture that you sent me looks great. If I get rid of some of these or all of them, you can have some of them too.

Thanks Brugie :D! Whoopee! it's almost like being back from the old country.

the cuttings from what i understand, does not like to be soaking wet. i kept those hardly watered all the time they were developing roots.

an acquaintance who owned a nursery in NC, sadly admit they could never propagate plumeria due to over watering i guess.
i must have lucked out ;)!
