4 colors of rose mallow

Chicago, IL

Last year I collected seeds from four rose mallow plants. The thing I forgot was to label which one was which. The four colors are red, dark pink, pink (pictured), and white.

A SASE gets you all four varieties. The plants bloom at the end of spring in zone 5 and continue blooming into early fall. In late fall they go dormant and you'll need to cut them back. They grow very fast and I've heard that if planted early, will produce blooms the first year. Not only is this a great border plant, it also looks great in the front of a house as it tends to get very bushy. I've also noticed that it attracts a certain bright pink insect that looks just like the flower bud, only much, much smaller.

I'd love to try some rose mallow. I can send you SASE or I can send you some seeds of mine. I can mail you some of my mixed poppy seed (somniferum), or some campanula (great bellflower or Canterbury bells). I also have some mauritiana malva. Either way, let me know.
