'Evening Fragrance' datura

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

Anyone ever grown this? I spent the afternoon with my datura seeds, and wound up starting 21 kinds---including two that came to me labeled 'Evening Fragrance'. Trouble is, one packet held flat, tan seeds, the other one small black seeds. (And about a half-dozen just said 'Purple')
I traded with anyone and everyone for any datura seeds going last fall, in hopes of getting several species which I can identify once they bloom, but thst tan seed/black seed thing's got me puzzled. Anybody know which color they SHOULD be?

I planted some Evening Fragrance last year and if memory serves me I believe they were tan in color. I also grew Lilac LeFleur and they were small black seeds.Judith, if you don't have any Lilac LeFleur let me know and I can send some to you.If I'm wrong on those tan seeds I'm sure someone will correct me.

the following Datura are tan in color: Double cream, Double Purple Datura, White Datura, Pale Pink Datura. La Fleur is definitely black. these seeds were given to my by a friend labeled as such last year. i have not planted them, but will try them this year. hope that helps.... ma vie

pale pink datura? save me some seeds from that, please!!!

will definitely do tiG. it's the only one that takes too long to sprout. same thing happened with the triple yellow flowerdd datura. took so long to sprout. once i got it going, all the effort was well worth it, specially when they had those triple blooms.

I have been growing 'Evening Fragrance' for four years. The seeds are definately the tan ones. This one self seeds in my garden but they are easily pulled out. The name is very appropriate. :)

D. meteloides "evening Fragrance" is a cultivated variety of D. wrightii and I have only seen one plant with broader limb than this (my wrightii from eastern California collected by the owner of J. L. Hudson in the Coxcomb mountains). The seeds is flat and tan to brown with dard brown centers on the sides. The color depends of the maturity of the seeds. The darkest is the most mature, but the tan germinated equally well. Seeds of D. metel can also be tan, but the upper margin usually has two to four ridges, D. wrightii only one.

Ma Vie, I want to get in line for some of the pink ones, too! So you know which species they are, or any other info?

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

MsBatt,

i have planted some seeds, takes too long to emerge. so sorry, the seed was given to me and have not grown them yet. i was also informed it is too slow to germinate, but all worth the long wait cause it is very fragrant.

Sure u are more than welcome to some seeds if i be lucky enough to get them going. i will be posting flowers on the photo forum once they are around.

unfortunately, i was not given any further info on them. i will inquire from my source, if they knew the specie. will let u know... ma vie

Hi MaVie, I am late as usual but I would also like to be in line for some pink seed or the source.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

no, u are never too late Busybee. will be more than glad to share some with u, if and when i get more. the source is a personal friend, who got it from another friend. i wish i knew of a web site where they could be ordered from. unfortunately i don't. least we hear from anyone here who is more in authority about pink datura seed. my friend didn't know either what specific variety of the pale pink datura seeds. he just grew the seed... was surprise to see the bloom he got at the time.

i presoaked the seeds like i normally do with the other seeds i've planted. so far to date still has not emerge yet.
