Brug Sunset

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Can anyone tell me if Sunset is one of AKAs for P+C, Maya or another variegated?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Sunset is easier to grow than P.&Cream, has an orange bloom, have picture, if you send me your e-mail address, I should have it, but have forgotten

someone has posted before that Sunset is Maya. I don't have either, but I'm almost sure if you do a search you could find if I remember right

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Plant Delight Nursery has a good picture of it. It says it has light golden peachy flowers.

Sunset & Maya are supposedly the same thing. I have Sunset, looks a lot like P&C. Hasn't bloomed yet.

Sorry guys - I just went back and did a search here where I should have started. Maya and Sunset are the same- P+C might not be.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, it can always help people just now looking to order, so they don't get the same thing twice :) baby was at my feet or I would have done the search.

I thought Maya was supposed to be white??? P. & Cream is peach, Sunset looks orange??

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Well, it was Monika who said that they were the same.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Sunset is a good variegated foliage. Flower is cream to peach to gold. Mine is a standard over 1/1/2 years old.
I have asked this question before if same as another brug. I have good photos of mine if
someone can tell me how to post them?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Oh ..and is NOT same as Peaches and Cream. I have both.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I just looked in Native Habitat catalog and they say Maya is small white blooms/variegated foliage. Peaches & Cr. has peach flowers/Variegated foliage, they do not have Sunset, but I had picture of it and sent to Liz, it is more orange. Sooo... are they different??

candida Maya variegated, also called Sunset, single 7" , apricot flowers. Very nice downy, variegated green/ white foliage. Excellent plant.

This is what it says at LBJ. However, they sell CG and JO as different plants, so guess this doesn't mean anything.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Shirley,

Look in N. Habitat catalog, this makes two different nurseries saying something different for Maya.

My NH catalog says--Variegated hybrid from Germany with peach flowers. Really cool plant ready spring 2002

Catalog Volume XIX 2001

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Wish they would make up their minds! How do they expect us to know what we will be getting???

My catalog is XVII and they list Brugmansia x Candida(Maya) Variegated hybrid from Germany with white pendant flowers.

Whose doing the changing? German nurseries?? Or USA???

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Good question. Guess we have to go by our instincts or pictures that someone has of certain plants. I still don't know what I have for sure. I know I have your P&C, but the other one is up in the air until it blooms, and then won't really know. End of my story!!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Mayas flowers are pendant, opening cream changing from light to bright peach, depending on temperatures. A beautiful plant.

Vienna Silver Star is a branch mutation of a yellow aurea. It has small cream yellow flowers and is extremly sensitive.
I dont have Vienna Silver Star, it cannot survive in my climate.

Grazie is a branch mutation of Kurpark Bad Salzschlirf. The flowers are almost pendant, opening cream changing in light apricot. The clone is less vigorous and more sensitive as the normal plant. Grazie is only in my collection.

Monika, Which one is peaches & cream. My Maya and Peaches & Cream leaves look pretty similar. Maya hasn't flowered yet.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I have seen pic. of Peaches and Cream and it seems to differ from Maya. You have to accept, that there could be a mixup happened in the nursery and you might have two Mayas. I saw the pictures on NH. To be sure, I have to see both plants on my place.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I've posted photo of Sunset (aka Maya?) at a separate thread.
