I've never grown a brugmansia and I saw them for sale at a local nursery/craft store, they were $8.99ea in 3 different colors some already had leaves on them. I resisted the temptation and thought I should get some advise from you guys first!!! I don't even know where to begin, so if anyone can give me a quick primer that would be great!!
Thanks,
Becky
I'm very curious....
wait, and soon people will be offering cuttings for postage. I hacked mine way back all winter, so I don't have any right yet, but soon.
I will have more cuttings ready soon. I've got the ones from my "experiments" moved up to 4 inch pots. Now that they have hardened off a bit, they should take off and grow really fast.
Thanks guys!!! I'm getting very excited!!!!!
Cala, let me know when they're ready!!!

Hey Becky...like that name as I am a Becky too! As a newbie bruger from last year and my new experience with brugs...I received lots of brug cuttings last year and was very disappointed that none of them bloomed last year (not one flower)and got lucky to find one at a local nursery that was about 3 ft tall and bloomed for me around september...I was totally hooked when it bloomed and the fragrance in the evening was heavenly...
If I were you and the ones you saw were any size I would buy at least one to get blooms this year!
Hope this helps!
Rebecca

everyone getting cuttings now should have flowers this year. Rebecca, I'm wondering if you got cuttings from the trunk. We just found out recently that those take a lot longer to bloom, and I think several of us gave cuttings from that area. I got lucky, started with brugs at the end of May last year, and had several grow to 6' or more and bloom, but I fed them heavy and they were probably from above the Y.
Thanks for info TiG but don't know where the cuttings came from...they looked like end branch cuttings and I received them from another gardening site last year, I'm hoping they will bloom this year!
they should. I'll bring you something to the callaway sale if you remind me:) I won't remember if you don't!
tiG, are you referring to the callaway thing that I told you about at the swap, weekend of 4-7 Apr. If so when will you be there. I will be coming over Fri morning. Should be at the gardens around lunch time or so. PJ said she was going and wanted to meet up. How about it?
yes, look on the general discussion forum! yes, another DG meeting!
Can I grow a brug indoors and will it bloom there???
Thanks,
Becky
Becky you can you need a well lighted window and TLC and they will bloom for you
