Attention midwest brug growers..

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Since we obviously couldn't get to Fla. for the plant swap......maybe we could set up one here in the central USA region for us norhthenas..LOL we could do a plant and seed swap too..and look at others gardens.

FSH, TX

Now that would be one incredible extravaganza for sure. And here I am in Florida and I couldn't make it to the Florida swap. I did have fun at work though while everyone was out looking at plants. I personally would love to see some pictures from the NW get together if nothing else. You guys and gals be sure to post some pictures for us.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hey Kyle, you can meet at my house. I have a large yard and plenty of seating. You would have to ignore the weeds in the vegie garden though. Of course, I wouldn't have brug seeds to swap until mid winter but could give IOU's. Anyplace would be fine with me. Just think it would be fun.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Brugie..sometime this early summer or mid summer maybe...we will see how many seem interested.. :-)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Kyle, I would love to come but to afraight to fly but not only since the 11. of Sept. I have ......? I dont know the name!

Biel, Switzerland(Zone 7a)

Aviaphobia..the fear of flying.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Monika,

don't be afraid to fly. i have phobia in long drives. i prefer to fly all the time. it is far safer, i believe than long drives. once u tried flying, am sure u will come to like it :D ... ma vie

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Monika..maybe we can come over there??? :-)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I would go for that!! I think you need to have it here in Tennessee. The big green house will be empty sometime in May and y'all could just camp in there, lol.

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh I think that would be fun....I know nothing about these wonderful plants...but I am learning.....Gosh Calalily, I can see me at night....sleeping on the floor...and looking up and dreaming about your greenhouse, pretending it was all mine-----Now Germany...that is another dream....lol

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Tennessee sounds good to me! About an 8 hr. drive for me.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Tenn. is too far for me.....I'll be in Calif..collecting in June.....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Powell, TN is a 780 mile trip from here. I don't think I could do that and have any living brugs when I got home. My hubby isn't a flower care taker at all. If you all decide that you would like to do that, don't worry about me. I'll catch a swap some time when the weather isn't so hot. No problem here.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I think that would be a great idea, Kyle. But how do you all make it back with a bag full of brugs? Will you tell them, these are vegies for next sundays diner?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

A freind of mine just tried to get in the USA with some plants she got out of the country. They confiscated them. She thought she could hide them but I think she got greedy and had too many to hide well.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

CC- that's funny ... but not really. Too bad us plant aholics are have to stoop to smuggling plants! Where'd she hide them? Were they brugs? I hear they will even confiscate fruit if you don't have a phyto.

Fresh fruit is really a no-no bring into the USA. My daughter had an apple taken from her at Kennedy Airport... she had gotten the apple on the plane during a return trip from Holland....she was 4 years old at the time and she was very upset cause that mean man took her apple. LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm not sure where she hid them,I can think of some creative ways I would concel them though.....Taped brug cutting around my body(it would keep them warm)various bathroom items emtied and filled with plants or seeds, they only check shoes for explosives, not seeds........

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Hmm, wonder how good the border patrol would check a little old lady(me) coming back over the border from Canada laden with Brugs.I did get caught with Beanie Babies but that was only because I admitted I had them. ;)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I brought plants into the US from thailand, they were just packed in my suitcases. I was scared the entire trip home about what I would do if I got caught, I was a nervous wreck by the time I landed.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh Snow, NH/CAN. is a long ways to come and visit you. Who would take care of your babies while you were in that striped suit? Did they take your beanies? I'm sure they would take your brugs. :-)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Y'all don't want to know what I've brought back from Mexico and the Bahamas!! DD almost spilled the beans once in customs. He asked if I had anything else to declare and DD said "but mom, what about....", I think all the blood left my head when she did that!!
I think you guys should have a Midwest brug meet, and if there is time/enough interest then come to Tennessee those who want to and visit.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Brugie, no they didn't take my beanies but they made me empty the bag and counted everyone to make sure I didn't have more than two of one kind.I'm sure they would take the Brugs and probably plant them in their own garden.LOL

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

That happened a few years ago on Rhein-Main Airport in Frankfurt. The mother of a friend of mine brought four passifloras with out of the US for her son. At customs, they took the plants away. My friend went right away to see his lawyer. It was only one day after that he got the plants released (there was right to confiscication) somebody had cut them all the way down to the soil.
