Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I have 2 lovely pictures from the Harrisons Orchid house in Fl, I wish I could figure out how to post them together like Tig did. Here is the first one , called "Johnny Walker". A real beauty.

It is gorgeous... A friend of mine went to Hawaii a couple weeks back and brought me back some bamboo orchid that grow to 5 ft, the flowers are white/pink.

I'll post a pic when they bloom!

oh no Kyle!!! He had a gorgeous vanda in his greenhouse, but only one blooming that I saw. It was a stunner. Sorry about yours :(

Azalea, that is lovely, what a great addition to your plant family.

Kyle, what a pity! I have one orchid, I'm sure it's nothing compared to yours...but you are welcome to it.

Brugie and others, One thing I learned from the Harrisons is that there are a lot of misconceptions about orchids. At least there were for me. They need lots of light and cool temps(I thought it was just opposite) and they don't like to be real wet. You probably can grow them and just don't know it. I'm gonna get brave and try one. Somebody correct me if I got this wrong.

gingerlily, I didn't have trouble growing them, they just wouldn't flower for me. I don't know what I was doing wrong. Had them in a SE window, and I didn't water them much at all. They had nice white roots. I did read someplace that they don't like a lot of fertilizer and maybe I was over doing that end of it. Decided I'd rather grow brugs. Much easier and the orchids would get aphids. Didn't like that part either. Now I just fight the spider mites on the brugs.

I'm trying not to kill mine.....

My burgundy dendrobium lost all it's leaves while I was gone. Either DH let it get too hot or in all the rain, it stayed too wet. We had 7 inches of rain in 2 days and it was running ankle deep in the green house.
