Netscape? or Explorer? Which one/

I am basically learning the internet as I go. Have always used Netscape. Someone just told me to try Explorer. So, what is the difference? (SORRY IF THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP BEFORE & I DIDN:T KNOW) Which one is better? Some links for me I can nnot get at all. Is that why? Does that change my email? I have a iMac. Which should I be using...How do I switch it over? Please, help!
