Brug House

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

You can see since my last GH picture that the Brugs have now taken over most of the space in the greenhouse. My seedlings are on the three remaining tables and the bigger Brugs are on the floor.Hmmm, now where to put the veggies and annuals?

How neat and organized. When you put yours outside are you going to strip the leaves off?The plants all look so healthy.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

cc, no, I don't think I'm going to strip them.I've got several that are Y'ing and I think they need the leaves to absorb the light. DH said he will stake them all if need be so they won't break if we should get any strong wind.

They look fabulous Snow. You put my brugs to shame! Did you put any seedlings out yet? How warm are you trying to keep the greenhouse? I'm thinking I better get mine cleaned out and start moving some things out. I'm just afraid as soon as I do we'll be back to real winter again... and it'll cost a fortune to keep them from freezing.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Poppy, all the Brugs are out there including the seedlings which are on the rear tables. The plant in the green pot on the left hand table is a seedling from the versi Peach x Butterfly seeds we got. I have the thermostat in the GH set at 70 degrees but it does go down to about 62 at night in there. It's been cold here today and the gas furnace has been running all day. Hate to see the gas bill this month.

Snow, your stuff looks great. Are your big brugs from seed or cuttings? I wish my greenhouse was as big as yours. I'd probably never come in the house until time to sleep. I can't wait to see your brugs bloom. Have you had brugs before that have bloomed? Whatever you are doing to yours, keep it up. Thanks for posting both pictures. It is fun to see what others are doing with their plants.

Looks fabulous snow, but you've still got lots more room for brugs, I can see floor space. LOL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Brugie, The big Brugs on the floor were all from cuttings from last summer and fall. The seedlings that I started in December from seeds are on the back tables.Last summer I had blooms on my FP which was my very first Brug and very first bloom.

Oh Snow, you are in for such a treat. How many different kinds do you have now? I just can't wait.

I was surfing around today and read someplace that this person had a sang from seed that was going to be one year old tomorrow and it is setting buds. So, maybe we won't have to wait for two years to get them to bloom. Wish I could remember where I saw that posted. Don't think it was on any of the forums......

oh my goodness! WOW! very nice! I guess mine will someday reach that size

I started what I thought was sang from seed last year. They had buds by the end of summer but fell off when I brought them inside. I found out later they aren't sangs. Not sure what they are ... but I'm convinced it is possible to get first year blooms. Maybe we won't get a lot - but we should get something!

LOL brugcrazy, You KNOW there's always room for just one more Brug.
Brugie, I think I have about 30 different kinds.I have a Jean Pasko that I bought when I went to Logees that is getting tiny buds on it. DH Was helping me look for the plants that I wanted to buy and was proud as a peacock when he found a JP that had already Y'd.It's only about 8-10" high.I just can't wait to see everyones blooms this summer as I know we will ALL have some.Brugie, you sure had some beauties last year as did several others. Hope there will be lots of pictures.

I grew a sanguinea from seed last year that bloomed in it's first year. Not a lot of blooms but some. I put it in a 7 gallon pot. Have a bunch more to put in large pots and outside as soon as it's warmer. We're having a cold spell here right now. YUK! We get very spoiled on the West Coast with moderate temperatures. When it gets around freezing, I hate it.

I think I need to get mine into a larger pot before it gets hard to handle. Will keep inside all summer. Brugcrazy, did you get moved back into the conservatory yet? Today is dark and gray here. Probably cold out there too. Better go check the temp in the greenhouse.

Brugie, the conservatory is almost finished. Yesterday I painted terracotta tiles on the floor. Looks good. I still am waiting for railings down the two landings, some trim and all of the electrical fixtures to be put up. As soon as it's finished and I put the plants in I will post pictures. Getting close.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Its the same here SH. During the days, I did not go out of the house, buds and leaves almost doubled their size. It was very mild but already tonight, the rain will turn into snow in the north hessian mountain regions. On Friday snow will fall down to 400m, we are 600m. The nights will be frosty again.
