Buds for Brugie

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I heard it was time to take some more pictures so me and the camera took a walk out to the GH. These are some of the buds on my Solid Gold.

How nice, betcha can't wait.I went to take some pictures just now and the batteries are dead, they're on the recharger now.How big is the plant, Snow? Are you going to save some pollen?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

cc, It's about 3 feet high and has several buds on it.Yes, I think I'll save the pollen from them all. Never know when I or someone else might need some. I also have buds on Ins. Pink and Isabella. The buds are about the same size on all three plants so I'm hoping they will flower at the same time.

Oh ,your soooo lucky,my buds just sit there, and I had told my DH about others stripping the leaves off and he wants me to do it(so he can see out the window.LOL)I'm afraid the buds will die if I do....

Hmmm, I don't know if that will harm the buds or not. Mine started to bud when I had them in the house and I did strip some of the lower leaves on them to give the smaller ones underneath more light but I was afraid to strip too many. Maybe someone can jump in here and give you an answer.

ok i'll jump. lol. i stripped my brugs a few days ago and planted them outside in beds the buds still look good i was so worried.

I still have about a six week wait for planting outside. My brugs are not nearly as big as Snow's. Were these just cuttings last fall? I try to hold mine back some because I don't have room in the house. Two more weeks and they go to the greenhouse. Can't wait to be able to get to my windows to wash them. I keep my brugs stripped until they Y and then I don't strip anymore. Just let nature do its thing.

Brugie, the larger ones on the floor were all cuttings from last summer right up to late fall. They started growing like crazy in the house this winter when I put them under the 400 watt light and they had the heat from the woodstove. Now they are REALLY growing fast in the GH and I hope they don't grow too big before I can put them out the end of May.

Snow, you are so lucky to be getting such a jump start on flowering. Mine will be very late flowering. I might have a couple that will come along early, but for the most part, it will be July, at least. That makes it pretty late for maturing pods so I'll have to figure out how I'll do that when the time comes. By the end of May, yours may all be in blooms. Wow! Now wouldn't that make the greenhouse smell great!!

Brugie, The buds on these are about 1- 1 1/2" long. How long does it usually take to get to blooming size. I can't remember how long it took the FP to bloom.

It is going to be a while yet. Seems like the buds are about 5 inches long before they open up. Maybe two - three weeks yet. Gosh, how quickly I can forget. Someone will answer, I'm sure.

Mine are a lot smaller too. I sure hope I can keep up with them this summer. The drought has me worried.
