Sheeps sorrel, and other weeds

John Evelyn (herbalist) once wrote of Sheeps Sorrel,'It renders not plants and herbs only, but men themselves more pleasent and agreeable'.

Back in our less solvent, not-quite-hippy/counter-cultrue-upstanding-members-of-a-small-town-all-at-the-same-time days (talk about identity crisis!), I actually did feed my family sheep's sorrel. The reaction was NOT "pleasant and agreeable!" I was informed that if we were reduced to eating weeds, well, never mind the rest of it.

Just thought I'd let WG have her thread back!

Samphrey, I've not heard of (thought it was an Island off Scotland? dunno)
