Okay so I have resorted to 'playing'. LOL I got these seeds last year or the year before in a trade. The package said to refrigerate them and I did- A LONG TIME AGO! So my eight year old asked if we should plant them. I did. Low and behold they are all coming up! Now I have to figure out what exactly I have. I did some looking and found one sketch and a whole lot of places that sell it. Any help?

Blessed Thistle is Cnicus benedictus. The entire plant is harvested and dried. A tea made from it stimulates the appetite and aids digestion. And it's been used to ease the pain of migraine.
I have no idea what Carbenia is. Other medicinal thistles include:
Cynara scolymus (Globe Artichoke)
Carlina acaulis (Carline Thistle)
Silybum marianum (Milk Thistle or St. Mary's Thistle)
Carduus nutans (Musk Thistle)
Eryngium planum (Nobel Thistle)
Onopordon acanthium (Scotch Thistle)

I still have a dozen or so of the blessed thistle seeds left if anyone would like them (came up in 3 days) and I believe I have 2-3 trades of the milk thistle (Silybum).
Not only is it awesome, it's one of the most needed medicinals in todays toxin-laden world. Anyone who's liver is at risk from abuse (drug or alcohol), or who lives in a particularly polluted envirnoment, should be on milk thistle therepy.
Milk thistle, by the way, it the most studied medicinal herb in the history of the world.

Milk Thistle seed is available at any health food store, usually less expensively than if you order it as seed. F'rinstance, Horizon Herbs charges $30/pound, but my health food store only gets $22.50. Quite a savings. And it grows just the same.

Y'all realize there are only three of us on this thread, and we're equally distant in a straight north/south line: roughly 2 hours from Cincy to Richmond, and 2 hours from Richmond to Knoxville.

LOL Brook! I wondered where Richmond is (how far from me you are). Say, Nana is making a big batch of salsa (see the thistle posting) and she is going to bring it up. She can stop and pick you up on the way, guess you can bring some tortilla chips.
