This hybrid has proven to be a very valuable breeding plant. Parents are CG x B. aurea Goldenes Kornett.
Luminosa is a parent of Anouschka, Fandango and Sommerkönigin. Heavy fragrant with a deep orange red color.
Luminosa for you
Monika...You just HAD to show me this one HUH??No I have to have it for breeding purposes... :-)
That has got to be one of the most beautiful hybrids I have seen this year. Simply stunning. I must confess this is too much for me to bear. That one and Rothkirch have got to be two of my all time favorites.
I gotta get that one too!!!
Monika, They just keep getting better and better. This is sure beautiful.
I can't stand many more of these beauties, we aren't able to get!
That has got to the best one yet. Love it.
I'm just next to speechless. This is just one of the best looking brugs I've ever seen. People who know me will say that I didn't use the best choice of words when I said "speechless", but I'm very close. I'm so in awe of your ability to hybridize these gorgeous brugs. I've enjoyed all the pictures you have posted, but this one takes the cake. Can't say another word. Guess I am speechless after all.
Monika, I guess my questions are then, how long did it take to get this ? And, did you grow all the seeds in the pod or just a few?
I plant all seeds in the pod and raise them all. There were only two plants with such bright colors out of almost 70.
The flowered in the second year. You have to raise all of them to maybe achive one plant like Luminosa.
fabulous!!!!!!!!
You can have pollen this summer, Kyle.
Absolutely Stunning!!!
Joydie
I think I need one more packet of import forms from the USDA.
Kyle - you lucky guy! I sure hope you had nothing on your agenda for this summer. Looks like you're back in the brug business.
Well Monika, I do believe my hybridizing for first year bloomers is out with what you have shown me. I think you have turned me from first year bloomers to the one special one....and to think I just culled so many....Thinking perhaps the best bet is to just grow 1 cross and grow them all up for that 1 Luminosa. You can always work on earlyness of bloom after you get the rich color....Sheesh I am so wishy washy. See what you have done Monika! I tell you what...I am going to be sending lots of seed out this year as I am only going to plant 1 or 2 crosses if this keeps up. Better to have 1 hybrid like Luminosa than 60 hybrids that bloom in the first year.
That has got to be the most beautiful of all. Thanks, Monika, for the real nice picture.
Breeding would be to easy when we need to raise only a few seeds to be succsessful. The Charleston - Rothkirch produced nearly 200 seedlings. With the xception of the plants, I gave to Kirchner-Abel, there were not many hybrids worth keeping. Many single flowering aurea like hybrids.
Monika - how do you grow your seedlings out? Do you plant them all in the ground and bring in those you think might be keepers?
I hope you know we are all so appreciative of your time here. I know I enjoy seeing pics and reading about your ways of doing things.Thank You, Thank You!!
Monika,
You have hybridized so many beautiful flowers and I find it hard to pick a favorite. Which one is your favorite?
Liz..I may have to hire help!!! :-)
love this one.
Monika, This is still one of my favorites! Love that orange glow to it! :-)
This is a real beauty. I have so many favorites when it comes to your brugs.
This one is still one of my favorites as well. I should think it should be on everyones must have list.
Ask Ludger about the colour, he visited me when Luminosa was full flowering.
Does the name come from the way the light plays thru the flower? It glows :)
The colour and the flowering from Luminosa is not to describe Monika. You must see this brug face to face.
I was fascinated of this brug.
GL
Absolutely gorgeous !!!
Gorgeous Monika!
Monika, do you sell these brugs in Germany or keep them for breeding only? thanks
Here you go Root, bumping to facilitate your orange obsession. I would LOVE to have this brug.
WWWWWWWHHEEEWWWIEEEEE!!!
Now I think my day is complete!!!!!
Wow Wow Wow. I wish the smell could come over the computer, too!! Amazing.
I love Luminosa. That is a great orange.
TamTam,I hope you have the Ole man down there looking at these beauties!
The fragrance of it is overwhelming!
Monika..do the flowers angle out or hang?
They are nodding like suaveolens flowers Kyle.
