Charles Grimaldi x Logees insignis Orange (USA Orange)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Very large, strong fragrant flowers. Heavy bloomer. But the hybrid does not exist anymore. The corolla wall could have been thicker. I plan a repeat cross.

Soft pastel-kind of reminds me of easter. Very similar shade in Cypress Gardens on some days. Although, I think that one is deeper.

Monika,
Would you happen to have a picture of the Logees Orange?.... I have one and was just wondering if it looks like the Charles G.

Thanks

Charles Grimaldi was the mother of this hybrid. Pollinator was Logees Insignis Orange. Insignis Orange looks almost similar to B. x candida Ocre in form of leaves and shape of the flower. If you have both, CG and Insignis Orange, you can try this cross.

Thanks Monika for the information. I'll keep that info with the rest of my Brug notes.

Yes, I have often wondered if we could talk 50 or so people into trying the same cross and each person grows up 500 of the same cross....how many of us would come up with the same exact hybrid?

just thought I would toss in logees web page for those who don't have it.

Monika..looks like Temple Goddess in shape and size but the color is a nice pastel..Temple Goddess is all white.

It was not a true white. In my opinion the reason for that was the thin wall of the corolla. I hestitated a long time before I put it away. I think, flowers should last at least three days and the flowers of this hybrid made it just two days.

I would have to agree with you Monika. 2 days is not enough time for a Brugmansia flower to last , but why not use it for further hybridizing...?

Many hybrids have a thin corolla wall and I did not want to strenghtens this trait.
