Brugs Pollinators....

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

could u used this syringe empty vial holders? these are empty syringe vials. the syringes are used to accompany the ink refill we sell. i got lots of them to accommodate everyone for a cutting???

u can also use this to ship ur pollens if need be! w/out due damage to ur flower or pollen.

i can wait for the cuttings whenever u are ready. in the meantime i can shipped this asap via priority mail with confirmation receipt. pls send me ur snail address via email.

since u guyrs polinate, i thought maybe the flower or q-tips can be placed inside for future use.

u guys got me hooked! i'd like to have the opportunity to grow my own brugs too! not to compete with everyone but to fit into the fragrance theme of my garden. LOL. lmk if interested.... ma vie

Question: What about the moist pollen molding in these enclosed tubes? I have used them to root african violet leaves, but never to store anything in - moisture would collect and rot whatever is placed inside. I guess you could poke a tiny hole in the cap, to ventilate. I don't know - just a thought.

I use the containers that 35mm film comes in to store my pollen and then I freeze it....the vials should work great too.

MaVieRose, I think these vials would work as well as any other container. It is good to be resourceful and recycle.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

these vials are 4" long, the opening has 1" circumference opening tapering down to 3/4 of an inch down. the bottom is flat so it stands on its own. it has a cap that stays in place. i save dried seeds in them and place in the refrigerator.

since i see most brugs collectors talks about collecting pollen, i thought to offer and share these vials to anyone who would be interested.

tiG... ur is on the way... hope u'll find good use for them.

Kay... i do have brugs, but it has not flowered for me yet. so i do not know how to answer u're question. i did try heat up the point of an ice pick to puncture the bottom part. it can be done. or it not, how about a moist cotton dip in tea tree oil to keep moisture in... this way there is moisture retained inside.

Glory... this is much longer than a film container.

thansk BrugNanny. i try to recyle anything and everything i can figure to be useful... like i said, i got thousands of them kept in plastc bags inside a box to avoid collecting dust on the vials.

if any is interested lmk... mavie

Kay, I believe we are to dry the pollen for several hours before storing it. That should take care of the moisture problem you are talking about.

update: one priority box with the dimension of: 13-1/2" x 11-1/2" x 2-1/2" contains 75 vials. it will only use one priority stamp regardless of destination.

if interested do let me know. pls email me ur snail address to avoid further delay. it is always my pleasure to give a helping hand and to share! lmk... ma vie

maybe a dessicant can be used(did I spell that right?) you know, the sstuff you put flowers in for drying,it comes in little packets sometimes, when you buy something that your not suppose to get moist...am I making any sense??45 minutes away from another 24 hour day.... i'm too old for this ......

MVR, thanks so much for mailing out the vials so quickly. Will be looking forward to getting them.

This is the first time I have read over that post thoroughly. From the size of those I think they would be best used to store large amounts of a single type of pollen. I discard each q-tip after using it on a few flowers rather than placing it back with my other q-tips as I don't want to risk getting any of my other q-tips wet from the used q-tip. I would love one of those packed full of Rothkirch pollen or Luminosa for that matter.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Eric... just took another photo with the q-tips inside and right along and inside the vial.btw.. i placed 2 q-tips inside one of the vial. aside from the q-tips... u are right! the whole flower will fit inside. what's good about it too is the vials can be labeled for proper identification. hope u guys will find good use for the vial. i am sharing them cause i had way too much to allow it to go to waste. it is my honor and great pleasure to share to each and everyone as long as supply last!

I received a very nice surprise in the mail today....I had no idea this box ,filled with these containers, was coming my way. I'm sure I can use each and everyone of them. MaVieRose thank you so much. My next question was how did you get my address? I bet I know. LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

MaVie, haven't had time to write but thanks sooo much!! Only hope I have that much pollen :)

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

u're very welcome Glory:)! some flowers are bloomed, and the bees keep bussing! since i had those empty containers, i thought to ask the flowers and the bees that looms around on DG. am so glad to know they trusted me enough to share ur address. hope u don't mind, since i don't have ur email addy either. enjoy them, i know u'd find good use for those containers.

all the syringe containers are gone. i knew i had a lot, but while away for the holiday, house buddy cleaned the store room. they thought i will never have any use for them. they only save me a few boxes and they throw 5 boxes away. they thought a few boxes should be enough as i won't be able to use them in my lifetime. that made me mad, since i knew there are good uses for them.

well put it this way, i should not really feel so bad after all, cause i am able to share with some DG members ... ma vie

MaVie it was so nice of you to share these with all of us. I think that they will be very handy. I owe you -- and not just for postage.

u're very welcome. it is my pleasure to share. u don't owe me anything. if each and everyone of us, whose been blessed to share, we may yet, through sharing, make this world a better place to live in. not all of us are blessed with the things we normally take for granted. as my grandma used to say..." share whatever little u've got, it may make a difference in someone else's life - share a little bit of u to put a smile on their face and hope that they be glad to see what tomorow may bring, instead of being unhappy and sad." word of wisdom from a woman whose been long gone, but her words still lingers on. a woman who taught me good, to be the person i am today... ma vie

Just wanted to post a thanks for these containers. If you need some pollen this summer you know who to come to for aurea type pollen or multihybrid pollen.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

MaVie, thanks from me too. I was so surprised to get a package. I can only hope that I will have enough pollen to put in these, also might use them in the "experiments" as they are a nice size. If you need seeds, pollen or anything just let me know.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

u're very welcome Brugmansia & Calalily & Everyone! it is indeed a great honor & pleasure to share, specially knowing u guys could find good use for them.

Cala with all the experiments u do, am sure with ur innovative ways, u will find other uses for those containers. remember they are washable. use bleach and palmolive dishwashing soap to the water & they come out more cleaner. i am not promoting palmolive, but i learned that water has viscosity, if palmolive is added to the water, all nukes and crannies of any object being wash will be much more cleaner. rinse thoroughly. place all containers in a pillow case, close the open end with safety pins. spin dry in the clothes dryer. voilá! u've got sterilized containers!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

MaVie . . . You are so resourceful - I would never have thought of that. Thanks again for passing on your useful tips.
