Have you guys been to stokestropicals.com? If not, pay a visit. I just looked through the gingers. Didn't realize there are that many different gingers. Gonna go back and look at other stuff when I have time.

We have ordered from Stokes before..nice plants..but hope they don't have to back order something..took almost a year to get one plant.
I have had a plant on backorder from Stokes for over two years. The other day I got a letter saying they were unable to fill the order and that I had a credit. I didn't think I wanted a credit from them since they take so long to ship, so I called and asked for my money back. They then tried to tell me that no, they don't charge your credit card until the order shipped, and so they DON'T owe me money. I knew that they HAD charged me for my entire order when they sent the first part of it, and when they checked their records again they agreed. They told me the check would go out within a week. That was a month ago, and I haven't gotten it yet.
There was a thread at another gardening site about a year and a half ago about Stokes. Almost all the comments were not very good. Everyone seemed to have the same complaint. I live not too far from them, so after reading the thread I decided to take a little road trip. I visited Stokes. I had seen their catalog of their beautiful stock. I was let down. Lots of their stock was in poor condition and this was in August, when our tropicals really shine. I didn't buy anything. I would be very careful. Just my humble thoughts :-)It seems also that Stokes might have been tipped off about the neg. thread, I did recieve an email from them saying that there were some things they needed to work on. I think anyone who posted on that thread recieved the same email. After reading the above comments, it seems they have not worked out all of their problems.
Thanks for the warnings, folks. I don't do alot of mail order, but I might have been tempted, the website looked so good.
