MY BRUGS :(

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

This morning, I went checked on my brugs and found they all are wilt leaves..I guess my cover and lights was not enough to keep the heat in.. Now it's 28 temp and wind chill at 28, too.. TOo cold for them.. I am going to bring them in for the night. I am going to give them fertizler and water so they can grow new leaves soon... I know they will come up soon cause they all are still GREEN. This monring I told my hubby how upset I am about my brugs.. He said we are going to build you a greenhouse and need to ask our friend to come over and help us build one soon.. Oh I can't wait

it's best not to leave them out unless they've had that full summer of growing in the ground. hope they make it back. keeping fingers crossed!!

mini, i would wait to fertilize when they start growing back. i have some that were rooted a couple of months that came back from frost, hopefully they'll be okay.

Mini, I have left large plants outside till it got down to 18 f..that seemed to be when they really died.Anything above 20 F they will be damaged but should grow back out of it.Keep da faith!! :-)

Kyle, you like to live dangerously, don't you!!

We just had another freeze last night. Burrr-cold. I managed to keep a few of my plants alive outside so far-of course with temps droping into the 20's thats a feat with nothing but milk jugs filled with water and blankets/plastic garbage bags. This is some funky weather for sure. This time of year I would expect one very light freeze that might damage some of my Brugmansia leaves, but nothing that would damage the stalks themselves. This is crazzy weather is all I can say and yes, I am glad I haven't planted all of my plants out yet. I was inches away from doing this the other day...and now I am beginning to wonder if March is even a good month to plant out at all. I can't believe I am debating waiting till April to plant out. Thats completly unheard of for me.

Today. I removed all the dead leaves and found spider mites.. Sprayed and moved all in here living room on top of the dog cage.. I am going to leave them there until the cold weather is over.. I know it is almost over.. My Dh said I need a growing light. I told him Yes I need. Guess I will buy one for my birthday lol... Guess what?? I found few passionflora are coming up.... even the blue sky vine. I moved them all together and under light. I am sure they all are fine and survive through the cold weather..
