CG seeds sprouted in 17 days

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This is the best I've done with any seeds yet. These were planted fresh from the pod, not soaked and not treated with anything. I've also got some seeds coming up that had been sitting for a while. I think the temperature is the critical part for fast germination. I have had higher germination @ 78*F than at 68*F.
An update too on the seedlings that had seeds stuck, they are making their first true leaves, noticed that one still has the seed stuck on the end of the seed leaves, but they grew enough that it isn't in the way of the true leaves. I think sometimes we worry too much!!

Cala, i still have babies coming up outside in my yard, picked a couple of seeds off sprouts this afternoon during a minibreak in the rain. i was surprised that our 25 degrees last week didn't damage the seedlings, they have zero protection, more coming up in the last couple of days. JY, same thing, but they are in a 20 gallon or so bucket and under oak trees, have close to 30 seedlings up now. i did cover those during the 2 nights of cold. don't know how many i may lose when i transplant as they are pretty close together, never thought they would germinate. now, these seeds had it nice and warm for a while before the first ones germinated, for sure....
i will certainly plant my own seeds straight from the pod, either into the ground or gallon or two pots...

You two really have green thumbs, and pretty good temperatures.

It is to get down to 5 degrees here in Ohio tonight, don't have any brugs in the ground, lucky me! But Wisteria, Flowering Almond and yes, even the hardy hibiscus was starting, as we have had almost 50's each day/sunshine.

Knew the other shoe would be dropping, but didn't know when. We will probably have winter now for 6 wks.

Susie and Arlene, enjoy your brug seedlings.

Hibiscus, doesn't it just kill you? i lost so many babies that were coming up, seedlings of rose of sharons, 6-7 kinds of sages, cuphea, all kinds of stuff plus the shrubs and trees that were frozen back, now the larkspur, brug seedlings, dianthus, tampa vervain (still blooming)and stuff like that including some weeds look as healthy as can be. i am through sniveling, though, sure more seeds will come back and the rest of the stuff should come back from the roots. i also have lavendar lady passiflora has been on my deck uncovered all winter, looks good, knock on wood. i can't even imagine 5 degrees.

Plants should be used to this weather after this many years in the ground, don't know how they do it, mother nature is watching over them, they usually make a great comeback, we are thankful for small favors around here.

Will be so glad the long wait for spring is almost over, I hope!!! Will have fun growing outside again.
