Red Orach (Atriplex hortensis)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Has anybody ever grown this? I am thinking I will add it to my herbs this year if for no other reason than its a pretty plant and will add some color. Just wondered if anybody had any pros or cons for it. Thanks for any info.

Mystic,

I grow it as an edible summer green. It grows well during the heat of summer, can be eaten raw in salad or quickly cooked like spinach. It has a bit of a salty flavor to it. The leaves of the green variety are fuzzy. Will reseed itself EVERYWHERE if allowed to set seed.

Take it easy

MaVie Rose Thanks for being concerned the floods aren't
around where I live. Not yet anyway if it keeps this rain up I am sure it won't be long until we have some floods. They have flash flood warnings out for here now. I am kinda up on a hill so I should be safe. I hope everybody else is safe. I know TN is really having some trouble hope everybody there is fine. Chris thanks for the information.
