Got PODS!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Gawd I hate having my picture taken! Here I am with the pods that Calla sent me. Look how huge they are! I've been trying not to pinch them too much but I just can't help it. The 2 biguns are Charles Grimaldi and the 2 smaller ones are suaveolens white. These are too cool ;-) Thanks a bunch Calla!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Good to meet you Poppy and so glad that they made it there safe and sound. I worried about them, and just kept adding more paper while I was packing them.(I started to put wool socks on them, but DH wouldn't let me have his)I've got a Frosty Pink pod I'm going to mail this weekend. It's been picked about a week, but I haven't opened it. You can open it and plant it when it gets there. Mini, I have an extra FP pod if you want one. I'm saving what little bit of room I have left to put some EP seeds down, and for some silly reason, DH thinks this green house ought to actually make a profit so I have to root some cuttings for him!! Can you believe he wanted to hang baskets over my brugs!!!(there wouldn't be any sun getting to them then) I held him off for a while using the excuse that they would drip on those cuttings he wants me to root.

So Nice to meet you Poppy and those are some nice looking pods Cala sent you. Westbrook will never be the same with the scent of all those Brugs in the breeze. LOL

I personally like the idea of people in pictures. Hi PoppySue is so nice to meet you...Those pods Cala are just amazing.

Soooo, when and if us newbies actually get to the stage where we have flowers and can hybridize now we know in advance what to do if a pod falls off etc.

My garden journal for brugs is getting better and better all the time, just packed with so much useful information thanks to all the wonderful people on this forum. I have to say again that there are really great people in this group.

Cristina, your seeds are on their way!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I hope I manage to keep these pods going until the seeds are ready. The smaller white ones look like they may be starting to shrivel a bit on the very ends. They don't show any signs of falling off tho. Since these cuttings are from the the flowering region of the plants they should bloom earlier ... right?

Ya know - I've never seen a brug growing in Maine. I've never even seen one for sale here. I'm sure ther are some somewhere but I've never seen them. It will be interesting to see if they become available in coming years as more people learn about them. My grow lights are the regular old shop lights on the PVC stands. DH just built me 2 more so I've got 4 now. I really like them - they've been working out great. The only problem is I have them crammed so full the plants are fighting each other for light now. The other 2 stands had to go in the dining room - I'm hoping to be able to get some things outside in a few weeks. I've changed my wish for a new greenhouse to a demand. I WILL have a new one this year ... no ifs or buts about it! Gotta lay the law down!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Poppy sue!So glad to see you.And love all the light setups, which I could get my DH to let me set up that many....And the size of those pods,Calla is the Pod Queen!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Poppy, I've seen them growing in the York Beach area. Made DH turn the truck around last year as there was two huge ones covered with flowers growing in barrels outside of a restaurant right in town. Also saw a few cream color and yellow ones growing on peoples decks.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Snow - I remember you telling me now. Do you know the name of the resteraunt? DH likes to go striper fishing down on the beach there. Maybe I can tag along and get him to take me out to dinner after!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Poppysue, they should bloom again soon. I don't know if they had any little tiny buds on the ends of the branches, but the plants kept on blooming, even with the pods hanging there.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Poppy, Going south on Rt 1 from Ogunquit watch for left turn towards York Beach. The building is right on the corner. We can't remember the name of it. DH said it was a restaurant or gift shop but I still think it was a restaurant. You won't be able to miss them. They were huge.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Poppysue, are they ready to pick or do you have to do the waiting/nuskin thing?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)
