Summertime...........

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Summertime in Lauterbach. The little county town is a beautiful sight with its old houses and many many flowers.
Its about 15km down the road, as snowhermit said, with a much milder climate as where I live.

That's really pretty, but where are the brugs?

Very good point Arlene. I must say...beautiful none the less though.

Are those vining geraniums? Beautiful. Wouldn't the painter have a nightmare paining those homes though? Another very nice picture. My daughter lived in Germany when she was in the military and sent some pretty pictures. She loved it over there and her future parents-in-law still live there so I'm sure she will get back to visit once in a while.

Beautiful homes and I love the way they decorate with flowers.

I looks just like what I would picture in my mind as Germany

Many of these homes are older than 400 years. They are protected as historical monuments. County people love to decorate their homes with flowers. Many of these small towns would be very attractive to tourists but they stay mostly in the large cities, Goethe, Hofbräuhaus or Oktoberfest seem to be more interesting. The houses were build with oakwood, straw and clay.
