Ok, some of you already know I've been digging and digging lately at an abandoned property (yes, with permission).
I have daffodils to trade.
Most of the bulbs are small (range from 1/4" to 1") and none of them are currently blooming due to the conditions they were in (surrounded by weeds, trees, etc). They need some TLC (room to grow and a good environment) and they'll do great next year.
I would offer to send them out for postage, but I'll get totally inundated with requests and just can't handle that right now (working on our ladies retreat at church, teaching 4 yr olds at church on Wed nights, attempting to get a manuscript published and trying to play supermom-superwife at the same time). Requesting trades will at least slow down the traffic some. :) Does that make sense or am I being silly?
I can post a photo on the photo forum if you want to see what you're getting. :)
Daffodils
smiln, i would love to see a pic. i have quite a few heirloom daffs in the yard and would like to add more.
is there anything special youre looking for?

MSJen,
I'll post two photos on the photo forum, one of the few bulbs that are flowering and another of the plants that I have to send out (but are not flowering). I also need to add one note...today when we were digging, we came along some other bulbs and they aren't all daffodils. I'm not sure what they are. They look like a bunch of tiny daffs all on one stem. Gorgeous. Maybe I'll post a few pictures on the ID forum to figure out what they are.
The point is that I'm not sure what all I have here. I would feel really bad if I say that they're all daffs and you plant them and WHOA they pop up and they're something totally unexpected. I just feel like I need to be very clear about all of this.
the property that we live on obviously was the home of a garden lover in the 1800's..i have parrot glads unknown daffs, paperwhites, snowdrops, some ive been able to id thanks to the heirloom bulb site (oldhousegardens, maybe?) and was AMAZED to see that some bulbs are like 3/$25. and such.
i gave away TONS of the parrot glads last summer and got to looking some more and found they were $8.00 EACH...and to think i gave away, for sase, boxes of them, up to 2 lbs each..oh well, many people on daves are enjoying them and that makes me happy.
i have this one corner of the yard that i put bulbs in, mainly new acquisitions until they can be id'd...if they arent thats okay too. honestly, the only plants i worry about keeping named are daylilys and brugs.
if i could keep dh away from moving the grass in feb id probably see even more flowers. im really trying to get the bulbs moved from the beaten path and somewhat organized..

MSJen,
Last fall, I gave away boxes of spider lily bulbs (lycoris radiata) and they sell on ebay for up to $8.00 for a few bulbs. Like you, I know that they are in happy homes and the money isn't the issue at all.
I took photos, so I'll try to get them posted on the photo forum.
lol smiln...im trying to give lycoris away too.
i also had a row of probably 200 crinums bulbs that ive been dividing and getting rid of. some of them were about the size of maybe a small canteloupe? bigger than a grapefruit? they were massive.
mom wasnt to happy with me when she realized that i was giving them away..what else was i supposed to do with them?
ill keep looking for the pics..sometimes those old homesteads provide the neatest plants and also so many forgotten ones. theres one here that i have permission to dig on and so far ive gotten amaryillas, 2 clematis, paperwhites, a group of unknow bulbs and i noticed this weekend that the other group of paperwhites are blooming. they have a really neat orange eye to them..gotta get them in the fall if they dont sell and raize it first.

Hi Smiln32
Take a look at my list and see if we could make a trade. I would like to try some of these as well. I have a large batch on daylilies, yellow w/burgundy centers that my Aunt gave me this last fall. Sorry I don't have a name for them she couldn't remember. These are not on my trade list as I don't know how many I have yet. I still need to devide them up.
It is still a little early to see what needs devided yet.
LMK thanks Mike
Mike, I'll send you an email. BTW, I saw your family picture on your "member page" and you have a wonderful looking family.
