oh oh oh!! Glory, did you start this from seed?? if so, do you remember anything specific? I just got some seeds I'd like to start to share with some of those that don't make it to the swap.

Do you have that one in lavender?

tiG,
No I started this from a cuttings.

Brugman,
Yes I do have a lavender one...with longer flowers... but it's outside and hasn't come back yet. Iochroma Grandflora

Can you cross the two and get a lighter color for us? Is this an issue of complete dominance or incomplete dominance?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I would love to have a piece of that blue one!!!

Cala,
remind me about May...I'll try and root you some...this old mind can't remember what it did 10 minutes ago. LOL

Brugman,
If I can get them to bloom at the same time I will give it a try.

Glory, If I can remember, I will remind you, lol.

Cala,
I'll put on the calander...how's that? LOL

Glory - how do you root the cuttings? Semihardwood or tip cuttings? Sand? I have a bluey/purple but the flowers look smaller and narrower.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Today I ordered the following from Kartuz - Indigo, Royal Blue, Wine Red and the grandiflora. If all works out well I would be more than willing to take cuttings and pass them on to anyone interested.

Liz,
I think I took a hardwood cutting and put it in the sand box to root.
I do believe you have one that is different from mine.
Check out this site and let me know which one you have.

Waterloo, I would love a cutting of the grandiflora when your plant is big enough!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I planted some seed but I haven't had any germination yet. Anyone know how long these take to sprout? Seems like its been too long already.

FSH, TX

Why would they need to be blooming at the same time?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Glory - I grew it from T+M seed last year - they had it marked with the old name Acnistus australis - so I guess it's now Iochroma australe.

Brugman,
I don't know any other way to cross the colors except take pollen from one and apply it to the other. LOL

FREEZE DA POLLEN hmmm....

Someplace, somewhere there was a forum "the lochroma have arrived." I had just gotten two from Kratz via catlady and printed the discussion for reference. It was mentioned that they arn't as impressive as brugs and are a good container plant. Well, the indigo is blooming nicely. The blooms are quite small, but perfectly shaped and a beautiful colour. The wine is getting ready to bloom. They are a little leggy, but can't pinch back because of the blooms. I think they will be lovely in a pot placed somewhere where you can get a close up look at them, because next to the brugs, they will fade into the background. Will be glad to share cuttings as soon as I figure out out where to cut. Any help anyone can give me?

Agapanthus,
Just trim it back....that's all I do to mine and they come back fuller.
