February 20, 2002: Healthy Kick-Butt Living

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Ready to kick-butt today? LOL! I was so happy to see so many familiar faces posting on the February 19 thread - hope y'all keep coming back and saying hi. GREAT to see you!

Today's Devotional:
From "Devotions for Dieters", by Dan R. Dick

Psalms 37:5 - http://bible.whitinger.net/showverse.php3?vid=14456

Alice Layden was a woman with no self-control. As long as I knew her, she had been terribly overweight. I hadn't seen Alice for over two years when she showed up one day on my front doorstep. She looked fabulous!

When I asked how she had finally done it, she said, "I asked God to help me, and I just kept asking Him. Every morning, every noon time, each evening, and any time I felt hungry...which was almost all the time...I just said a little prayer for God to get me through. He did it! After I thought I'd just about run out of things to try, I found out what I should have known all along. God did for me what I was unable to do for myself."

Today's Thought: The more time spent in prayer, the less time left to eat!

We got a care package from my dad today; he sent a nice used Mikita (sp?) rechargeable drill and some other goodies...Including a valentine's Hershey kiss thingie. Fortunately, it's a limited amount of them, and we can enjoy them and count them into our calories. Thank God he didn't send a big bag of them or something, LOL!

I liked today's devotional because it gave me hope. If that lady could do it with her weak willpower, there's hope for me, too. :)
