Hello Larry :)
Welcome to the world of Brug-Maniacs *lol*
I note, that you are already familiar with some of the members of this great group and I am really glad you are here :)

Do you still have all your brugs indoors? I hope spring soon will come, so all of us, that keep them stored can get them out in the sun again :)

Yes, You are right about Brugs and Dats in several Countries and States are considered weeds. I hope to see this changing very soon. Hopefully all of us one way or another can contribute to improve their status ephiphet from "Noxious weeds" to "Naturalized beauties fitting natural into the environment. There are different reasons, why especially Datura have got their present reputation in Australia. In Australia it is strictly forbitten, that any citizen import Datura, because it is feared, that it will poison live stock cattles. Brugmansia is exterminated from the naturalized habitat in a few US States, because teenagers misused it as a drug and died by it. However, if we had to remove all plants from the surface of the earth, because someone "could" misuse them or because of the fact they were poisonous, we wont have many left ... only a little grass lawns, tomatoes and melons, if we remember not to put our teeth in them, before fully ripe.

I hope, that we in time can change their image to make them worldwide known for their wonderful scent and beautiful flowers :)

Larry,
I think most of us here are constantly bringing our Brugmansia in and out of the house this time of year and yes it does drive the dear wife mad. I know how it feels to have your pc crash as well. Just replaced my hdd not too very long ago. I had poor tig send a few plants out to one fellow I thought I had traded with and come to find out it wasn't him. I just got an e-mail from the guy and of course had to send him out a few prized Brugmansia in a hurry. So, never fear about missed trades. It happens.
Sincerely,
Eric
