Good afternoon all! The day was so springlike - felt more like late March - temps in the 50's and very windy. It's been a little hectic around here. DH had to have a hemorroid removed (I know he would kill me if he knew that I made that announcement). But, geeze, you would have thought he had a baby! (And the doctor charged about the same amount!) And dh got to take super duper pain pills, unlike new moms are allowed to. Well today he is little better.
We had two more set of triplets. We also had a lamb that has tetanus. We tried to treat it but dh finally put it out of its misery. He ordered the CD&T vaccine. The lambs usually don't get tetanus this early.
And our calving has officially started with a "bang". Luckily dh had the day off work today. He went to John Deere dealership to pick up oil filter. I left half hour later to go to doctor (I have another ear infection). When dh arrived home, he found first calf heifer running around with legs sticking out of her. Luckily the heifer was already in fenced in area near barn so he was able to get her in barn and into head gate. It ended up the calf was coming backwards and was on its side. He did end up getting it turned and pulled out (nice big bull calf) He was afraid he broke one of its legs but even though it is wobbly, it seems to be okay. The heifer is very protective. She tried to knock dh over several times. And this is a heifer that dd showed last year. The next cow is due on March 5.
Well I'd better get some more office work done before chore time. I'm the bottle lamb feeder and we are now up to 8 bottle lambs and one kid.
I'm waiting for my mom to call. My dad had to have a colonoscopy today. Later in the week he also has to have some more tests. He went to one of those senior health screenings and one test showed a blocked artery on one side of his neck. He tends to be a little bull headed about having tests done but my sister who is a nurse finally called him up and chewed him out.
You all take care!
