CG seedlings

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have several of these. I'm very proud of my babies. I did cut some of the biggest leaves off when I saw they were so wilted!! I guess I reacted too quickly and thought it was the huge leaves that were making them wilt instead of DH forgetting to open the door and let the heat out.

Brugie, I guess a couple of hundred are up, more are planted.

Great going!! I sure wish I could move into my greenhouse now. Was out there today and with the north window open, it was still 78 degrees in there. If it weren't for the nights, I'd be moving tomorrow.

Brugie, i know this is florida, but i have at least 4 kinds of seeds coming up, mostly in the ground, since december, lowest it has been is 24. i am sure they aren't growing as fast as the heat mats, etc, but they should start kicking in. they have been out in mostly 40s at night to 70s in the daytime, probably 15 nights or so in the 30s.

I found 3 seed pods yesterday that have dried up on the plants, found them when cutting back.... i have planted from one pod, going to plant the rest of them. after reading from eclipse that seeds ripen while the plants are dormant i have a feeling some of these babies will take. peeled a few, i am certainly not an expert but they look good to me. marking this date 2/18..... bet they are popping up in a couple of weeks, spring is very near!

Arlene, I'm just afraid we could have a really cold spell yet and an electric heater or even two won't keep it warm enough in the greenhouse if the wind is blowing. I'd rather not take any chances yet. Besides, if I started seeds out there, it would be way too cool, so I'll just get things going in here and we will move out!! No, actually, it isn't all that bad. Just looks like a jungle at all the windows and under all the lights. Well, yes, it does look bad. :-)

I hope all your seeds grow for you. Just plant brugs and forget mowing the lawn. Our lawns are still totally brown, but I did notice the clematis are starting to grow now. Geese are heading north too. Both good signs.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

those geese are good signs. yes, brugie, i now it's different up there. can't wait to see if these seeds come up.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I know what you mean Brugie. My cuttings have gotten so big they have taken over the sunporch. We have to use the front door and walk around to the back yard because all the Brugs are covering the area in front of the back door.Just two or three more weeks and they are going out to the greenhouse.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Calla? A couple of hundred are up?? WOW!! Hundreds? You're in the Brugman numbers~~

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Liz, I thought for sure you would have hundreds of seedlings too. I can't believe how far I've come in a year. I planted my first seeds last fall, and I was hooked. Then CC sent me some and they all came up, then TiG,Eric, Arlene and Jeanne!! Of course I've planted some of mine and bought a few off EBay and from Valley Grow. Earl always sends twice as many as you order!! I got the "sang" seeds from Ebay, and glad I didn't buy more than one pack. I split them with Stormy19, so I need to tell her they probably aren't what we thought they were.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

wait Cala, for more sets of leaves before you remark them.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Cala those are nice lookin seedlings. Are they from your own pods?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Poppy, the very first pod!!

Hamilton, Canada

Cala,
Hundreds in just a year...oh my lawd!! I can't wait until I get my first bloom...when the heck is the weather going to warm up. I'm getting cabin fever and these bum knees of me a killing me. Still doing the physio thing. I want to be in good shape come the summer.
