Can't uninstall.....

I bought a new version of Norton Antivirus software. However, when I tried to uninstall the old software I got a pop up box with this in it: "Internal Error, unable to load or call external DLL. Please contact your vendor for more information". Now, I don't know what to do. Can't install until I get the old Norton out of here. Any ideas what is wrong?
