WHY?
I dont know!
It looks completely as a versicolor (heavy, hanging flowers) x white suaveolens (corolla shape). Since it is both ways sterile, it means, that we have to be extra careful not to loose it :) Monika, can you see any resemblance between this one and Pride of Hanover (Photos of PH also have suaveolens/ insignis-like flowers, but as I have never actually seen it I can`t know it for sure. It is like Baggers plant catalog, - here the "Rosa Traum is throughoutly and strongly dark pink, - maybe after a tour in Photo-shop *lol*).
We brugmansia breeders would be happy to achieve such colors. They made a tour through the Photoshop, thats for sure. Its the same with the blue Angels trumpet in Quelle gartenkatalog. Its Acnistus australis with enlarged picture.
Glockenfontäne is a B. versicolor x B. suaveolens - hybrid or vice versa. There is another plant, Nova, with similar flowers but only 10cm shorter and different foilage, is also completely sterile. It must have to do with the cross.
Pride of Hannover is a versicolor (as said by Dr. Preissel). It does not bloom at my place, to cold up here.
Yes I heard of the reputedly blue Brugmansia and had my trouble explaining, that we have high hopes in obtaining one, but that these are not yet made *lol* If taken with a grain of salt, these catalogs are (not as much educational, but) very entertaining to read :)
Well, we can in a way say, without knowing exactly why, that sterility seems to be inherited with the cross. Are Nova also a garden hybrid of the same Country?
Nova is a hybrid of the late Mrs. Neu.
Is Super Nova related to it?
No. When breeding a lot, there are always hybrids coming up looking similar to others. We have only three Wildforms available for breeding.
Super Nova is not related to Mrs. Neus Nova. Wild form is a species or a natural hybrid from their habitat in S.A.
Cv is a Cultivar.
