Fandango is a seedling of 1994 with its first flower in 1996. The flower opens up white, changing into peach (apricot) after three days. Growth and flowering habit is like that of versicolor. All flowers open at once but Fandango is not a versicolor, a Multihybrid coming close to x candida.

double peach Fandango
Pretty I am jealous :)
And this is one that isnt available here??? pity, it is absolutely breathtaking!!!!!!!!!!!
and I too am jealous :(
this is definately one I would like to have
That's it!! I'm hitching a ride to Germany. Gorgeous!
Another masterpiece :-D a x candida look and the blooming habit of a versicolor in one plant *lol* It must be fantastic to see this, when in full bloom ... The coming spring is the first time I get the oppotunity to grow out a versicolor hybrid and I am already thrilled, because of their capacity to put out a lot of buds and then .... tadaaa!! ... open all at once :D My arborea and aurea follow the same blooming pattern as Datura ... sloooowly ... first one flower in the first branch fork, then two - one in both sides of the fork etc ... It don`t look like much, when the plants are yound or recovering from the winter-quarter *lol* I would love to transfer versicolors blooming capacity to any Brug I know *lol* Imagine whiskers or culebra .... first no flower in a month or so ... only putting out more and more buds ... then ... flush!!! 150 or more flowers on the same culebra *LOL :)
Gotta get my permits, gotta get my permits.....
I do linebreeding by avoiding breeding pink to orange unless I know the genetic background and hope for a certain result. I have a family with strong orange influence and the same in pink.
Almost only white unless there had been color in both grandparents.
For example: Charles Grimaldi x B. suav. Rosa Traum only white. One offspring, Sommertraum was bred back to Charles Grimaldi. I received 59 white B. suaveolens and one yellow versicolor like hybrid: Goldrausch. B. aurea Golden K. produces more yellow offspring.

So Lovely~
Monika, so dr s X ecuador pink, white versi hybrid, X almost anything will still be white? are doubles harder to pollinate?
How about butterfly to Isabella? How do we find who their parents were?
Tonny..all of my pink X orange crosses yeilded almost all whites...an occational colored clone would emerge..but rarely
OK,so should I continue to grow out all the frosty pink X double whites? They are apparently going to end up single white frostys, huh???Or could some end up double?
CC, i don't know but i am almost starting to wish for 20 seed per pod seed pods! can't imagine growing out 200 without a tractor and herd of cows.
After reading Kyles way of growing them ,I'm gunna throw all but a select few in my garden and other areas that are sunny and moist.I WILL have big bloomin brugs if it kills me!!!
I have also thought much about, how close Brug seedlings actually can be planted. I think I will try the tobacco way or a la Eric. Plant close in rows. 30-40 between the plants in the rows. Three rows 50-60 cm apart and a garden walk of 70-80 cm between each thirth row.
Tonny from the fourteenth potato-row
CC, is really true, i had a pink in a 25 gallon pot, was a 6 inch stuck 6/00. it died back that winter. by 6/01 i put it in the ground....it was so full of roots i couldn't keep it watered.
Arlene,
Candida species double is very easy to pollinate and produces a nice flush of seedpods. HG though seems extra difficult. I think it depends on the type of hybrid. Monika is our real expert on doubles though.
Monika, that is one exquisite hybrid. I am working on a teleportation device to get a few of your hybrids over here as we speak. No paper work that way. Lol, just a joke, but as always I can dream.
Eric, you can breed these hybrids also. You have the tools for it.
Monika,
I sure hope your right because I plan on growing at least 1000 seedlings up this following year in hopes of getting a few winners from which to select just to be able to breed with. I know its going to take some time to come close to any of your old hybrids, but hopefully we will have some of your hybrids from which to extend our work before too much longer.
And yet another beauty. Can't you almost smell them?

I wonder if this beauty should be replaced by the troubled Herrenhauser double orange.
you mean HG be replace by Fandango, right, cause I think this is as good as they get!!!
Do you mean that the other way around Dennis?
SORRY! Of course, HG is ready to slide into the compost and let Fandango be the 'Must Have'.
This one is just beautiful !
If ever we could just get our hands on some of these beauties! Love that one, heck, love them ALL!
This drooling is getting out of hand here. They have new bibs now that have pockets to hold what drops and I think I better go get some. I see all these beautiful pictures and I just sign and want each of them. This is sure a good trip down memory lane today. Thanks to all of you who brought these threads back up.
