First of all, will you all be my valentines?
Howie's my main valentine, but I like giving them to my friends, too. You're allowed to eat one heart-shaped cookie today. Tell the Calorie Police I said so. And, if you have to make it a virtual cookie, so be it. ;) More below...
Today's Devotional:
From Devotions for Dieters, by Dan R. Dick
Scripture: Romans 8:1 --- http://bible.whitinger.net/showverse.php3?vid=28118
Perhaps the worst part of dieting is the guilt that accompanies the desire to break from the diet at any possible moment. For some, dieting becomes a challenge to see how sneaky a person can become, but eventually guilt creeps in and spoils everything. Dieting requires a good spirit and a hopeful outlook. We cannot expect to maintain a good state of mind when we continually condemn ourselves for our failures. We need to resolve to try harder -- and then forget our failings. When we can forgive and forget, we stand a much better chance of a successful diet.
Today's thought: Valentine's candy adds to the flesh; the Word of God is less fattening!

I forgot to mention yesterday that I tried a tip out of the George Foreman booklet which came with the grill. I tweaked it a little:
1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1 pound ground turkey, raw
1 green pepper, minced
1 onion, minced
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. crushed red pepper seed
Mix it all together and grill until juice runs clear and burgers are done. Makes six patties which are 200cal/18g fat each. That's as fattening as it would have been had I used ground beef, I know. I'd like to come up with some other ways to do burgers like this so they have less fat. Any ideas?
