Sunshine Memory Fund

A while back we wanted to be sure Monika could be here on DG and took up money to pay her way. Well, the response was great!! We had extra and decided to open a Sunshine Fund in Memory of Monika's Mother. I have one question, what are we going to use it for and what will the rules be? I hope nobody feels left out, but it was spur of the moment kind of thing.I tried to remember by looking at the email addys who was from the brug group, but probably left out quite a few(If it didn't have "brug" in the addy or I'd emailed you before and knew you, sorry you got left out)BTW, Monika's sub is for 2 years.

I think this is going to be really a good thing. We would have a "stash" that we could use when something comes up with one of our members. Something we could do right away without having to collect for it. We could use it for anything that may make somebody's hard time a little better.

I agree. It was mentioned maybe sponsoring new members, but that's kindof hard unless you know the person. I say keep it as a stash too, and from time to time we can add to it, or use it for something special. And that way someone who didn't get to add to it in the beginning can still do it.

I like your idea of hanging on to the extra and having it available in case it is needed, God forbid we need to use it due to a death, but it would be there. I would be happy to donate to the fund on a yearly basis or whenever it is needed.

I'd contribute! I like the idea of having a fund around for sponsoring new people as we come across them, re-upping subscriptions for regulars who may have fallen on hard times at the same time their subscription is up or whatever other good things. This all gives me the warm fuzzies! I don't get that way usually until after the second glass of red wine. This makes me feel good all over again about being a part of this group.

I trust you, Cala, to take care of this and know that you will use this to do good things. This sort of thing usually works best if there are more Chiefs than Indians, so count me as an Indian and tell me where to send my wampum. If you need help, let me know. Otherwise, this winyan will just sit back and let y'all decide. Philamaya! (Thanks!)
