FYI, Florida zone 8 seed report

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Just to let you know, i scattered seeds all over next to plants, especially if i thought they were immature (couldn't help myself with some picking), and some that were frozen. i have seeds coming up in 3 places, expect more. one has a little seed cap on it. they generally look nice and healthy. we only got to 24 or so a few times. my next seed pods will get planted outside in the soil, maybe properly instead of dropping and kicking a little dirt on them. hadn't paid much attention after i heard the seeds aren't supposed to freeze.
my guess is there are some of us planting in rows that could just go ahead and plant in rows in the first place.

Congrats Arlene, see, you can grow brugs from seed. LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

28 seedlings up next to their barely coming back mamas, 18 up in the large pot with JY. and more sprouting. None of these seeds have ever been inside. not bad for me thinking they probably weren't ripe enough and temps into 20s and often 30s....

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

and you thought you couldn't do seeds!! lol!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Congratulations Arlene. We all knew you could do it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

yep, is true. think i was lucky....i do understand my soil better than i do peat pots.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, you did good girl!! I think I pamper mine too much, I will have to get "tough" with them.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Just think Arlene... you could plant fields of them that way... like a wild flower mix! Wouldn't that be cool. I bet you could get some awesome hybrids out of a brug field!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

poppysue, sure could would be awesome. have to get some life stock in for fertilizer though. if i hadn't thought those seeds weren't any good i could have at least put dirt on them properly...i'm thinking more will come up, 13 by isabella...the rest are probably CG/JO X ?
Cala, guess i'm weeding out to just the toughest from the start!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

We'll be reading about an out of control brug forest down in florida,Arlenewill be building a tree fort so she can see the sun,LOL

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Arlene . . I think there is something to your back to the basics seed planting. Survival of the fittest is certainly a good trait. And look at all the time and worry that you saved - - you were not constantly peeking, and check for right temperature and moisture. I know that you don't like to grow seeds but now you know that you can do it the easy way.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Yes, and Ms. BrugNanny i recommend that you do this.... get some sites ready and just plant some straight in the ground. put a few brugs in pots nearby so you'll have to run the sprinkler......works like magic.
CC, i might well have to build a fort to see the sun....wouldn't that be lovely.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, you are an inspiration to us!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Cala, not like you are, and you are full of knowledge, but i think we both have some kind of curiousity in common....i am excited now, gonna make some great brugs.......
