Eric's hybrids

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Which are Eric's hybrids and his full name? I want to make sure I give the proper credit he deserves.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Dr D, Amber Rose and Kyles Pink. he also has DxS L, DxS R and DxS M
I'll let him handle his name:) and any I missed

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i grew several of his that he hasn't seen bloom except the pics i posted here. actually had i think 2-3 that frosted with their first blooms on them, can't wait to see what they are!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I have one from him that was labeled Frosted Velvet. I think it is one of his.

If Eric approve I like to ad his hybrids to the list :)

tiG, what is the full names of DxS L, DxS R and DxS M

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I believe that right now, those are their names. Unless Eric has changed anything.

Frosted Velvet is the only hybrid I gave a name to that did not bloom its first year...I probably should not have named that hybrid as it still has not bloomed for me, but I wanted some way to track it. I admit I have given away hundreds of my seedlings simply sent out in boxes and crammed together...no way of tracking...and hence I may have named a few that do not merit. I apologize for this.In fact, it came out of my Frosted pink bed, but it was so different from the other seedlings that I saved it for that reason alone. Leaves remind me of a candida cross and hence this is odd as I did not have any aurea pollen to that hybrid. The hybrids that I have created that I think have merit on their own are DR.D, Amber Rose, Kyle's pink. The others...DxS L DxS R DxS M etc were pretty, but other than being repeat bloomers in their first year and an orange color...well they aren't really anything special. I admit I was gung ho on those as I had a fantasy that DXS hybrids could perhaps cross to arborea a bit more easily as D stands for Dr.Sues and S for Solid Gold. I figured aurea x suaveolens x versicolor x (aurea x suaveolens x versicolor)...well, I just figured that those type hybrids might be mixed up enough to cross with arborea or even a flava. Silly dream maybe, but that was my goal and I have not given up on it. Tendril lenght is best on DxS M. I also wanted to get a few hybrids out to others that had bloomed in the first year so that perhaps these might introduce some early blooming characteristics. As I have often thought, I don't care who creates the best looking or behaving Brugmansia as long as they get created. My two favorites have got to be Dr.D and Amber Rose though with Kyles pink coming in a close 3rd. My DxS hybrids are not any better than what is currently on the market in my oppinon in the USA and certainly not better than anything from oversea's. As I stated earlier, those were created by an overly eager beaver trying to create an early blooming orange arborea x mutt of some sort or perhaps mutt x arborea....I have wrote and rewrote this a few times, but suffice it to say I sure wish I had pictures to post of these hybrids as I am often very critical of my own hybrids. Of course I am hoping to have some descent hybrids in the future now that Monika has graciously given us just a few sand specs of her wisdom. For that, I must confess I will be forever grateful.

Will hope that Frosted Velvet will bloom for me and then I can post a picture for you. I'll talk to it and it will probably be one of the prettiest that I'll have. If it is as pretty as it sounds, and you want a start of it back, I'll be happy to send you one.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

have FV too, forgot that one:)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG,
Since you already have it, I guess I can give my extra to someone else. Just want to be sure though. I had it on the list of stuff to send you this spring.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, you're so sweet!! yes, it's small, but I do have it:) and it's looking good. you are a doll! it will make someone else real happy!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ms brugie...I don't have one!!!!! little hint...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene,
It's yours.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

thank you ms brugie. are the leaves really pretty?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene, they are fuzzy, maybe a little longer and not as wide as some and they have a little curl to them. It closes up at night a lot like Glory's peach versicolor does.
Right now there are a few bug bites on them too. :-) I'll be sure to wash and spray the plant before I send it when the weather is a little warmer. Nights are too cold right now to mail out.

S.

Arlene, I know you can answer my watersorb question. Can you go to the second page on this forum, read my questions and then just email me an answer? I'd really appreciate it.

I have one that was just marked "Erics Hybrid" anyone know what that one is?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

CC, I have that one too.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Why don't we just name it that????Erics Hybrid!

CC,C,
I have so many seedlings, seeds, etc that I have sent out that I have never seen bloom. I have sent boxes of over 100+ seedlings to people in years past who have promised to send pictures. Never saw any pictures. I had a nursery who promised to grow up seedlings and let me take my pick of seedlings. Upon going back to the nursery most were sold and the few they still had were simply labeled pink or peach or tricolors. They didn't even remember me or that they had said I could take cuttings of any I like. Still, like a fool I donated a few noteworthy aurea types, double orange, etc to that nursery. Went back and all but one was gone...a citronella. One of the workers loves Brugmansia at the place and even brought a white versicolor form from a mexico conservatory she states. Of course she did not say it was a versicolor. She simply stated it was white, slender, and long. I used to send out seedlings as I did not want them to die and perhaps lose a beautiful flower simply because I was breeding for strenght and vigor. I sent out seeds for the same reason. Yes, I like watching my own seeds come up and bloom. But in the end I don't care who creates the most or the best hybrid...all that matters is that it is created. Hence, I don't keep any seeds I don't plan on germinating myself. I want to hope and pray to see a beautiful creation one day and I don't care if I created it and my name is not attached. I can understand the pride one feels when it is attached though when it is a beautiful hybrid.

Brugmansia..welcome to the real world of Burn't hybridizers.LOL there are growers out there and retailers that FEED on our talents and hobbies in their quest for NEW plants to fill their coffers. I don't feed them anymore. All of my hybrids have yielded me NO money of anykind and barely my name associated with them. So I don't give them anymore of my hybrids...and I saved the best for last....I'm not as dumb as they think!!LOL Someday I will release these new ones..but for now..they are safe with me and not making some grower very healthy profits. :-)

...everyone...lets all be friends or at least nice to one another. I admit we have all had our stressful times and such, but if it is at all possible I would like to see us all forgive each other and resume. This is a great forum. Lets not muddle it up. If we let one stressful event which may make us say something or react in a way we normally wouldn't continue to affect us then we are detracting from this wonderful place. It is too easy to be misunderstood and too easy for one to let ones feelings get hurt sometimes when things aren't going smoothly on the job or at the home. I don't know what the stress factors here are, but I just want to see everyone growing and having fun.
