HELPcan't remove disk from computerhow?

I put a floppy into the floppy drive on the Mac Performa 600 so as to copy the farm records as a back-up. I could not find anything on the Mac to allow the records to be copied to the floppy, so I wanted to remove the disk, but I can't find any button or anything to release it! Haven't used the disk drive on this computer--assumed it was like on the PC, which has an eject button by the disk slot. What now? I don't think I am supposed to shut it down with the disk in the slot,am I? Is it possible that some program is disabled?
