have butterfly bush for quick trade

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I dug up some butterfly bushes for some trades, and dug up some extras.

I have to know today, because I already boxed and packed them and will go to the post office this afternoon (in 5 hours).

these will be either pink or lavender.

I would like any brug cuttings
or red flowered plants
or anything showy
and if you dont have anything - that is fine too, you can owe me something...

cheers

Hi pebble

Can I get one as well LMK Thanks Mike

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

MIKE, Sure, I will put you on the list for when I dig them out....

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Pebble, why can't you wait until some of us get rid of the snow and ice conditions in our area. I would love some of your butterfly bushes, but how to get them in the ground would be a good question.
Sorry, for spouting off!!!
A gardening friend, Maxine

Sweetie, the weekend is fine.....I'm getting that bed ready this weekend, too. Maxine, sorry you're still frozen in.

Maxine, have plenty that I can dig up later when the snow & ice melts. You have no idea how plentiful they are in my yard, I neglected to deadhead a couple of years ago....egads! And I simply cannot bear to just yank them out and toss them. Last year I must have dug up at least three hundred of them and gave them to a neighbour who is going to be selling them at an open air market, you know farmer's market type thing....But I still have a ton. 2 years ago I put in a stone walkway, and on one side I had this gorgeous butterfly bush, it got so big and droopy that i had to move it, but before I did, it had shed a trillion seeds (as plants do....) and I have buterfly bushes beween my stones, where I was trying to grow blue star creeper...they are everywhere, would you believe the year before I planted the butterfly bushes I tried to grow from seeds and not a one germinated.....now I have them all over the yard.
Are scared now to plant them??? LOL

Maxine, I will have plenty for you when the time is right for you to plant them.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

pebble, I also found them impossible to germinate when I tried last year! Glad it is not just me. John

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

John, that is funny isnt it? I guess the best way to germinate them is to let them do it on their own...Mother Nature has a way with them that we don't apparently....

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

Thanks Pebble

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Pebble...I went shopping today...want any of these????

Daffodil triandrus (tahiti) bulbs, miniature daffodil bulbs (mixed colors), hosta golden tiara, hosta sharmon, and hosta francee. The last three are bare root, but starting to grow leaves already.

I have to send you SOMETHING, afterall. :)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

smiln, don't worry about it...

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Ugghhhhhh. Ok, you don't want any of those. Hmmmmmmm. Not much on your trade lists. Hmmmmmmm. (psychic vibes headed to the NW) Tough to try to read your mind all the way from WA to AL. :)

Well, at least email me your address and I'll send postage. My daughter is a butterfly fanatic (we've even raised some) so this is for her.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Smiln dear, I don't want you to fret over this. what goes around comes around, please dont feel you need to send me anything. Isn't this what a gardening community is all about? sharing??? And I have always said that we here at Dave's are a wonderful caring group.

The butterflies and hummers will flock to these plants, they are aptly named, I couldnt believe the increased butterfly activity in my yard, and the hummers....ahhh It's the simple thing in life that give me pleasure....

For those of you that are interested in butterfly bushes for future trades, please post here and I will make a file for spring trades. I already have a couple of names down of people living in the colder regions.

cheers

Temple, GA(Zone 7b)

I would love to trade or do Sase. If you still have any left. I will have tons of plants at the end of March. Hoping on having Pomegranate Trees which have beautiful Blooms and some Witch hazel. Also have planted lots of other Goodies that are all coming up and doing great under my grow lights now. I have tons of seeds so if there is anything in particular you are looking for LMK and maybe we can work something out!

Thanks, Traci S

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Hi Pebble:
Do you know if the butterfly bush you have is winter hardy to zone 3/4? I would love one, but not if it's just going to die a slow painful death here. In recent years, I can get by with zone 5 plants, but I still hate to see things die because I forced them to try and live here. LOL! And we never know from one winter to the next if it's going to be nice or nasty. If they would be okay for zone 4 at least, I would love to baby one along. Mulch and the whole nine yards. I can either send sase or owe you something when I get something neat growing. I really don't have anything right now, as I just started last year. If you read this far and are still with me, please consider putting me on your list for cold climate people. But, only if it is hardy down to zone 4. Please let me know either way, so I can be prepared.
Thank you.
Joan

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Traci, your bomegranite sounds enticing....
Joan, I just don't know if they are hardy to 3 or 4...I'll look into it, and sure you can have one.
I'll make a quick search and see if they will do okay for you, well, one way to kind of guess is, have you seen any around town? I think they are hardy little guys, but egads...I just dont know.
