Mom & Dad came for BBQ yesterday. Dad mostly slept, as is his custom these days. The cancer and related drugs keep him tired most of the time, but he isn't in pain, and he says that hanging out with the grandkids for 20 minutes and napping for 2 hrs - well, he says the 20 minutes are worth it, even if he ends up sleeping the rest of the day when he gets home. He insists on coming to our house as he says it's one of the last reasons he has for crawling out of his house. The sun's been out the last few days, so Mom's been making him go out side with her and walk around the block. Having the Olympics on has given him something to focus on besides himself, and that's been good, too.
Horeseback lessons have been delayed until MARCH! Ugh! But it shall be worth it, I tell myself ;-) The reason for the delays is that DD the Clarinet player keeps having auditions & such. State performance is this weekend in Fresno, and my other DD and I are going down for the event. It will be plenty of fun, and I know I won't be thinking of horses, then...
Mom's crocus are up and blooming, but mine are still slumbering. She has a sunny little corner that turns to spring a few weeks ahead of the rest of us. Can't wait - means mine are not far behind! ... which means strawberry season can't be too far off, either! Mmmm, strawberries, warm, soft, and red right through the center. I have a photo of DS on my desk at work with a giant strawberry half way in his mouth and red juice dripping down his chin. It's from a few years back, and always brings back sweet memories.
Counting my blessings! Thinking warm thoughts for those in need, and thinking happy thoughts to everyone else, too!
Take care.
Karla
PS Hey, I lost 5 lbs, and have kept it off for two weeks! I feel positively slender, hehe, although I'm still over 150 lbs!
