Tim, somebody, please help!!!!!!!!

Gilmer, TX

I have received a number of passiflora seeds from Tim and others. My problem, they are sprouting, but then they are withering. Just a few are still living. What am I doing wrong??????? I have a number of subpeltata and antioquensis that I received from Ireland coming up and I don't want most or all of them to wither. I'm using half peat moss and half fertilized potting soil when I pot them. Any help out there.

Are they too wet catlady?

Too wet? Using fertilized potting soil may be a problem, many fertilized soil tend to get moldy, that may leads to fugus attack. Are they getting enough air circulation?

I agree with Tim. I think the fertilized potting soil is the problem. Try making your own mix with peat moss, vermiculite and perlite. You can purchase a fungicide called Captan that is excellent for damping off. If you can't find Captan, Daconil will work. I use Tea Tree Oil mixed in water and don't have a problem with the damping off.

Thanks poppysue, Tim, and Cala, All survivors are coming out of their mix and going into the soil mix you recommended. It was so heartbreaking to see them sprout, only to wither. I have the above mentioned still in their peat pellets waiting for your advice. Going to get on it right now. My passiflora and I thank you, Pam
