I'm starting this a little early, but I really want to get to bed earlier tonight and don't want to miss posting for ya'll. How is everyone? I really liked today's devotional as I typed it in. There's a good theme to February's readings, I think.
I'm needing to make today a new start because this last day has not been too great diet-wise for me. I've had a persistant headache and did some "comfort" eating. I started out okay -- had a nice, measured, lunch-sized portion of spaghetti with Howie. Later, though, I thawed and finished off a large portion of soupbeans with chicken and way too many saltines (read: a whole tube). It was just that mindless eating it's so easy to do when you feel yucky and not like doing anything else, you know?
*added: Well...we changed our "splurge" night to tonight and went on a run to White Castle. Done splurging now!
NOW. Today (Friday!) is a new day. :) And at least I did drink my water - that much I can say!
Today's Devotion
from Devotions for Dieters, by Dan R. Dick
James 4:7 -- http://bible.whitinger.net/showverse.php3?vid=30345
The earliest days of a diet are the hardest. There are times when it just seems impossible to resist the wonderful treats that appear everywhere. But resist we must. The reward comes to us when we realize that with each victory over an individual temptation, it becomes all the easier to resist in the future. The largest part in the battle is to realize that we really can do it. The Scriptures promise us that when we resist the temptation (the devil), it will flee from us. God never makes a promise that He won't keep. The battle's been won.
Today's Thought: There is no temptation I cannot resist!
