Monte Blanche aurea

FSH, TX

I recently recieved a hybrid named Monte Blanche aurea and I have only been able to find one picture of it. The plant I have labeled as Monte Blanche is a double with a versicolor calyx and a short flower. Leaves are very velvety as well. Does anyone know if this sounds like the correct Monte Blanche and does anyone know the hybridizer and or crosses involved in this hybrid?

With a name like Monte Blanche sounds like a French Brug to me.

am thinking BC or Liz have this one....

No, I don't have Monte Blanche, I have a suaveolens blanc. I've never heard of this one. Sorry I'm no help.

I admit I have bad eyes, but heres looks like a single white. The one I have is a double....Anyone here see any doubles in that picture...thinking I am missing them.

I have bad eyes too if that is supposed to be a double. Looks totally single to me.

FSH, TX

Yes, what I am wondering if I have some other hybrid altogether that is a double and hence what is it....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hey Eric, maybe you will be lucky and have Charleston!! Then you would really be on your way to creating.......

FSH, TX

Its a white aurea double of some sort. I have seen it bloom already. That hybrid, Knightii, Hg, and Candida species are the only doubles I have.

Why don't you take a pictue with your new camera?

FSH, TX

No flower right now. It stopped blooming a few weeks ago. I will post a picture when it blooms next time though.

it's not Gemini is it?

FSH, TX

I haven't seen Gemini so I can't say. This is a double aurea with a candida type calyx. Very small and very velvety leaves.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

that describes the Gemini except I don't know about the calyx, but still might be something else. The real one should be getting here soon, they've already charged the card, so I'm hoping that means they've shipped.

I am born in Gemini too ... not that I give much for Astrology *lol* Lene is into Horoscope making and think, that I act typical Gemini *lol* I don`t exactly know, if I want this Brug ... if it also acts typical Gemini I am not sure I can live with it (joking) *lol*

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

tonny, i am a typical gemini, so much so i hate myself most of the time, lol
youre right about living with a brug by that name, lets see, tempramental, choosey, and never satisfied? and then of course, the rules would change the next day.
yup, i see it now, plant it in a pot so it can be moved..

*lol* Yeah, some of this sounds familiar *lol* ... still hope I some day will be forgiven *lol* wish I was a potplant, that could be moved ... sometimes to a very distant location ... *lol*

Brugman,
Barb Ward sells Monte Blanche maybe she can answer your questions.

Do you have her email address?

MsJen,

I am married to a Gemini and have a daughter that is one also, boy they don't call me Libra for nothing, trying to balance those two is a chore and a half sometimes. So do we need to start a thread with "So what's your sign??" LOL

Dee

that would be a good thread dee..
ive read quite a few books about geminis and i SWEAR there has to be a camera following me recording my life...its uncanny.
everything from work ethics to well, umm what happens behind closed doors.

p.s. i didnt mean to hijack this thread

I originaly purchased my Monte Blanche from Harding. See her photo it is a aurea hybrid. [LINK REMOVED BY ADMIN]

I am convinced this double white aurea I have is definitly not Monte Blanche. There is just no way this perfect little double white aurea is Monte Blanche. That is what it was labeled, but in this case...this is the first time I have been happy a Brugmansia was not what it was labeled.

Brugman,
Is this flower a cream color or white? That Golden Lady is small, double, very velvety leaves, cream color and is some type of Aurea.

FSH, TX

I have recieved a Cypress Gardens that I purchased as an aurea...I have recieved a Monte Blanche that is apparently a double white aurea. I pulled a few baby buds off to verify it was just not that one flush of flowers and yes, these hybrids are fully double. I will wait for a few more bloom cycles before I state cream or white though. Perhaps I will let you guys tell me if it is cream or white though. Or one could do the old white paper test on it. Yeah, thats the ticket....

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Eric, does this nursery sell on line? can you email me a contact?

FSH, TX

I will post pictures and then I will of course offer seeds if I get enough to plant. I plan on growing at least 1000 seedlings from this hybrid for myself. You are all welcome to the seedlings if any are worthwhile though. I keep wanting to plant more and grow more up to maturity...I think this is some sort of disease....This past year was a bad year as it was my first year in a new place. I fully intend to make up for it with next years crop though...Perhpas I can email a cutting or two though though. This one appears to have good pollen as well so perhaps I can make some crosses both ways with it.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Brugmansia, if you want to put any up for adoption I have plenty of room for them to grow big and strong. Dee
