When boiling pasta at a rolling boil it spatters all over the stove. Cooking directions on spaghetti package say don't cover pot or pasta'll get gummy. Italian friend says, "sure, cover pot but leave an air space." Lidia on TV covers her pot completely. I need an expert opinion from an experienced cook. Any opinions will be appreciated by this amateur cooker who's tired of scrubbing his stove.
