Did ya'll notice?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

http://plantsdatabase.com/go/2521.html Beauty - huh? Maybe it would be nice to officially invite her to the brug forum?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Ok, she has my invitation.

We'd love to have you here, Monika.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

think someone already did, read she will be here in a week or so.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Boy, we are winning the lottery, or something.

If we get all these brug brains on our side, we should start to learn something. Should we not??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

ROTFLMAO!! - That's a new one ... BRUG-BRAIN! For some reason that doesn't sound like a compliment - LOL!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Hey ,I'm learning every day!!!Its the stuff I forget thats killing me.....forget to water, forget to plant, forget to sleep............

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Poppysue, you are a hoot!! I didn't even notice that it sounded funny!! I'm lucky to remember a tiny bit of what's posted here. I have to go and read them over lots of times.

Poppysue, some of us have paid Monika's membership. She should be here soon. Her Mom just died so things have been very hard for her recently. She's working on her homepage here. We'll have one of Europe's top experts very soon. It will be wonderful. She is so, so kind and nice.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

That's great! I didn't see the "paid subscriber" thingy on her page? I wonder why...

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Should I check on that?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

If she is paid .. it should be there. I wonder if she has access to the forums?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

someone might ought to check on it.

Cala, could you check on that. I noticed that too and I don't think she has access to the forums yet. Thank you.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I emailed Dave, and it will be taken care of as soon as I hear from him. I will use my credit card, till the funds we took up come in.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Very cool. Monika is a very nice lady and also very helpful. It will be great to have her here. Wow! This is getting better and better. :)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I woulda chipped in!!!We need all the experts we can get!!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Since we know she's coming, I'm going to start a welcome thread. Can you imagine what is going to come out of this group in the next year?? So thankful for good friends!

What a wonderful idea, Tig.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I certainly didn't mean any disrespect. I would take it as a compliment if someone said I had the brains to grow brugs, or knew a lot about them!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

You do have the brains to grow them, and hibiscus, and passiflora,and.........

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Bless you, I'm glad somebody knows what I meant.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, I don't have a BrugBrain, but seems that's all I have in my mind! LOL!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hibiscus, It's fine, didn't mean to make you feel bad. Sorry.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Hibiscus, I'm looking forward to having (or being?) a Brug Brain! Sounds like something good to me!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

wishing I were a brug brain....lost most of mine - brugs, not brains to the frost, (might have been better off losing half my brain too...) luckily I had taken some inside. I guess that's the price you pay for living in a dream world and thinking I was in the tropics. I know better now!
My extra bedroom will be my nursery next winter.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Pebble, here they grow back from the roots, even young ones in pots....don't pitch anything yet!

Pebble,

I'm on Vancouver Island and have left mine out for 2 years and they come back from the roots. Yours should come back in Spring. Did you mulch them well. I cover mine with 2 feet of fish compost. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i don't mulch mine, except what is left from the spring. almost all of mine are already sprouting new growth. here in florida they say not to mulch citrus as the ground will warm up more during the day and hold that heat better at night if you don't mulch. but i never recommend people do as i do....everyone has their own way. i did put a cutting from brugie straight in the ground to root in october some time, and it is already coming back nicely too. as long as we don't have another hard hard freeze.

Arlene, we may be the same zone, but your temperatures are way warmer. We don't get really cold but it'll be a while before we get warm. In the Pacific Northwest, you need to mulch your brugs outside or have them in a very sheltered spot. I'd love your warm temps. We hardly get over 80 F. ever and if we get there people are all whining about how hot it is. Our daily average in the summer is mid 70's and in winter mid 40's.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

BC, it is different here, supposed to be 30 tonight but it shouldn't hurt any plants. only if it's under 32 for some odd hours, not sure. i think the low here this year has been 24, last year was 16. for about 10-14 days it was in the 50s to 60s at night, some high 60s. this place is to die in in the summer, very high humidity 90s. even if she didn't mulch though, they may still be okay, i wouldn't pull them up without giving them a chance. Pebble, you haven't pulled them up have you? i think cala has the JO/CG that comes back for her, i am sure she mulches though.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, even the ones I didn't mulch came back eventually. One finally came up in September!! The best luck and the biggest plants are on the southwest side of the house in an "L".

Arlene,
Gonna get about 39º here tonight....I'll check out in the greenhouse before I go to bed just to make sure it's not to cold in there.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

going to follow this yellow brick forum so I can get a brugbrain from the wizard

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Irish, if it works, let me know. I could use one too.

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh, I wanna' go with you, Irish! Since y'all got rid of the Wicked Witch of the West, it ought to be a nice trip! Now we just have to figure out how to disarm those darn monkeys, um...I mean USDA people.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Wonderful! I like the way you people talk, my kind of language.
